Recent Trips

Hi Gang. Haven't been to Baja California, but did take several interesting trips recently. The first was in early July, when I visited the Sierra Gorda missions located in Queretaro state in Mexico. Before going to Baja California, Junipero Serra established five missions in the Sierra Goarda region named Jalpan, Landa, Conca, Tilaco, and Tancoyol. This was in the 1750s. Palou, who also went to Baja California, served in these missions. I will attach a photo of one of the missions, which are very different from any of the missions in Baja California and California. I then went to Spain for a week, to attend an academic conference in Sevilla where I read several papers. I also visited many historic sites around Sevilla including Italica, the ruins of the first Roman sity in Spain, Merida with extensive Roman ruins, and Cordoba. I will attach a photo of the Cordoba mosque, later converted into a church, to another message.
