How many Cops on the board?
We did this a couple of years ago and now one of the newby's has made a comment that caused me to ask the question again.
Guess most know I retired after over 25 years on SDPD as a Captain.--Yeah! way back in 1983--so I have really beat the system.

Was a Federal Agent in the DOJ for the DEA for a few years in the late 70's and early 80's, in MIAMI. It just got too dangerous and after my daughter
was born I went on to other endeavors. But what a great experience it was... memories I will never, ever, forget!

Not a cop but i've taken a good beating at the hands of a cop when I was 19. Illegal stop, illegal search, illegal beating. Guilty of being white with
long hair I guess. Got a lawyer and the whole bit. Good experience for me...not so good for him. Taught me that not all cops are good and the bad ones
are down right dangerous.

"bad ones are down right dangerous." So true and the good cops hate them more that the citizens.
Yes! Corky you did by 5 months--The best job I ever had was being a motor Sergeant.

Peace officer N. California and Fed level. 5 years was enough stress for me. I was still trying to save the world from the scum. Also mundane
and boring stuff: surveilance, stakeouts, no life outside the other officers, tired of always being on the job.
Can't name departments. Bad guys still want to talk to me.
The bad cops were as bad as the scum. It was not safe. If you can't trust someone with a badge and gun, who can you trust?
Still, cops are my brothers and sisters and I'd back any of them up in a nano-second.
Happier being a paramedic, thank you.

I am no longer surprised that many-many good cops leave and for the reasons you spoke of not the pay.
Rather doubt that I could make it today even if some one could take about 48 years off my back. Come to think of it--I really don't think I would
want to do that stuff again. Heck! I would not even want to be that young again. But I am most happy with my memory's.

I like to play cop.
For instance, the cop in me says this topic aint baja related, and all you cops should move the conversation over to the off-topic forum.

I'm not a cop, but my wife & I work in the Salt Lake Mobile Neighborhood Watch Program. We really appreciate what the Police do for our
community, and we like to help them out a little by lending them our eyes and ears a few nights a month.

Not exactly Baja related except we're all Bajanians and cops.
OK. How's this? Mexican cops are my brothers too. Sisters too, if there are any out there. I'd back them too.
Gutsy response to a bunch of cops, mtgoat.
