are there any HUMMER's in use in BAJA??
Would really like to know if there is anyone driving a HUMMER, and IF what are the UP's and DOWN's of it.

Drove down to Cabo today(Costco, Home Depot) counted three but I know there is many more. Since your so interested in Hummers and can't afford one
try this. Its basically a chevy astro. which is one of my favorite vehicle , its not mine.

there are lots of them around here. all types Original, H1, H2, H3, and the military uses them also.

YEAH, I have seen them Bruce, and what I want to know is IF they are as good as it is sayed.Now with so many OFFROADERS on this Board ,I thought I
could get some firsthand information,and discuss it To hear the PRO and CONTRAS.
Have seen the military using it, but not many private using it. Interesting WHY - beside the price factor.
The Chevy is grreat, I like it. But the H1 would still be my favorit - just dreamin Comitan, just dreamin.

Farasha The hummers are way expensive and impracticle for use in europe.. Having said that if you really want one ,rent one for a week
drive it a lot then decide, they cost way to muck money to take advice from a stranger about buyiny one ..

My brother-in-law bought an H2 because he considered it a steal (cheap) when he went shopping for a Suburban or Expedition.... The H1 is the expensive
Hummer.
Personally, I say go with a Toyota Land Cruiser or Sequoia or maybe a Jeep Commander?

Nice H2, and yeah, way too expensive here in EU, BUT they are also used in SINAI lateley, for deserttrips/Offroad conditions,and they seem to be quite
reliable in these conditions here. SO , thinking maybe to get a 2nd hand on some stage. For now I stick to the less expensive 4W lers which work with
WATER and Veggies.
Still want to know were the disadvantages are,beside costs.

If I'm to choose - H1 or H2SUT. But this red H1 is really a Hammer of a Hummer! Nice Airbrush work too. Ever had any troubles?

I wonder what the situation will be when Hummers become old - will they sell really cheap like old Wagoneers today? You might hear something like
"where the heck are you going to find parts for that thing?" There won't be many in junk yards to salvage to get parts. I bet a Hummer H1 in pristine
shape will bring big bucks in the future, or maybe almost all of the Hummers be in pristine shape because so few of them are taken off road.

BarryA, tell you for 29,500 you wouldn't get even a used Hummer in EU, maybe a wrecked one to use spareparts.

Packoderm - you're probably right, thought about that also, wonder also who is ever going to sell anyway. Will be passed down the family rather. Like
Dad did with the big old SAAB 99 we had. I just took over,and loved that ugly monster for its sturdiness.Felt like aTank around me,was also build like
one and saved my Boyfriends Life when he was crashed through a old big VOLVO,and shoved through an ironfence.He came out with some minor scratches and
sore marks from the safetybelt. Sore eyes from the battery acid which was crushed, and sprayed through the broken windshield. Although the SAAB and
the Volvo where wrecks afterwards!! He wouldn't have survived that in his lightweight fancy Sportscar.
Driving now at home a Honda 4WD, wouldn't switch to anything smaller. In town I don't use a car anyway, but outdoor activities demand storage
capacity, power and reliability next to security. When its winter I drive on ice and snow without to feel much of a difference.
Still wonder that there is no one complaining about those Hummers, can't believe that. Every car has some disadvantages.

------the new Hummer H3 competes with Nissan X-terra's, toyota FJ Cruisers and Toyota 4-runners, as well as Dodge Dakota's and the like. It is MUCH
cheaper than the H2, and of course the H1 is out of sight. The MFSR price IS $29,500, but add-on packages make that price go up some, but not a lot.
I have already seen used H3's on lots for 25K. They get about 20mpg, are powered by a 5 cyl engine, and appear to be very competitive, to me. I
looked very carefully at one in Palm Springs at a dealership and I was impressed. So far the only complaints are that it is under-powered, but that
is a relative opinion, so??????
The H3 is MUCH smaller than the H2 or H1.

The origional type HumVee has no relationship with the H2 or H3. The 2 and 3 are basic Chevy frames with a fancy body and capitolizing on the Hummer
name and look. The origional's main possible problem is it's width in traveling certain areas. It's other features make it a awsome machine for off
road.

I had my H1 in the dealer's shop for servicing recently and noticed that the sticker price on the new H1's is about $140K now (the so-called "Alpha"
version). I was also told that GM is not making them any more. They also told me that only 8000 civilian H1's are in use in the US. It will be
interesting to see what happens to the price on the used ones, like mine. Doesn't matter too much to me, mine is like a family member. Someone in
our family will drive it until it drops. With the diesel engine that could mean 500,000 miles 
One of the many things I enjoyed about driving it in Baja is the attention it draws at the military checkpoints. There are always at least one of the
Mexican army H1's around, and the Mexican soldiers always propose a trade. One time they offered two of theirs for mine. I should have thought about
that one a little more

THANKS A LOT Guys for this INFO's, I'll check prices out back home next month. Then I'll let you know WHAT in EU the prices are.
I don't really care about being underpowered, as long as the Diesel starts in heat and cold, and doesn't give me a headache with permanent repairs or
adjustements.
Hey Ken you should have taken the offer,and start a business with the Mexicans,
So far for now I'll go and feed my 4WD behind the house with some corn,hay, and water (weekly refill is due!!)
So the stubborn beast makes a good training race tomorrow.
