Baja Talk Radio - Is there still interest??
Hey Nomads:
It's been sometime since I left a message on the board. Sounds like most of you are doing well and the information is flowing. Good to be back.
I have been gone most of the summer, took a two-month contract job consulting in Mexico. I've also been working on our current Mexico Expo at the
convention center in Houston this weekend (Oct. 21st). Free passes for Nomads if you email me.
I then came back and World Talk Radio was being turned over with new management, new equipments, etc. I wanted to start up Baja Talk Radio again, but
we lost our sponsors and they deleted our past shows (we had some great guests, what a shame...). Anyway, I have a meeting with them next week on
bringing the show back if we find a couple sponsors.
My question to you, and I'm not trying to get a pat on the back, is; Are you interested in the show being back online??? Many of the nomads are part
of the backbone of listeners.
Thanks,
Ted

I was under the impression that the broadcast was local to southern California. I'd tune in, but I'm at I-5 exit 760- something. Can't quite get the
SoCal stations.

Yes Ted... hopefully the bugs are worked on that kept many of us from hearing the show on our PCs. I could lkisten to it on my WebTV, however!
Is there no way to recover all those great archives?
I was on the week after Capt. Mike's show... and once again when you asked me to fill in for a cancellation... People that know me know I love talking
Baja!
Perry, it was on at www.worldtalkradio.com
Good luck Ted... let me know if I can help!

Maybe another radio station would welcome something like Baja Talk Radio. How about a regular column in the Reader (like Don Bauder's now). You
could answer questions written in (like Matthew Alice). You could be an occasional guest on local TV (like the lawyer in blue jeans). I am sure
there is a lot of interest in Baja CA in San Diego. But the asses in our local media don't want to address it for some reason. There's Mi San Diego
- what nonsense - they can't incorporate Mexico-related news into mainstream news that affects San Diegans? You need to market yourself and your
"content" - there are so many Baja CA issues which are closely connected with San Diegans (border, development, crime, surfing, environment,
accommodations, regular weather coverage, special events - and the yet untapped - birding, botany, conservation, civic projects, etc). You have a lot
of base knowledge, as you know. Go for it.

Yes. A forward looking published expected guest/topic list would be of assistance as well. Not that you were asking for this purpose, but I also can
invision the potential of this being formatted in a way to stand alone as a viable business in addition to a public service.

Thanks for all the comments, I do appreciate them, even the contructive ones on what I can do better.
I have approached a couple local radio stations about a segment or even a Baja "update" on certain shows, same with local TV, but no takers. Columns I
haven't tried, maybe it's worth a shot.
I'll have more news for you about BTR in the next few weeks but please keep the comments coming.....

Baja Talk Radio
Ted, I found most of the shows quite interesting. The retrieving older shows via the archives was a great feature. Good Luck.

Truth, and cut the BS
A most informative tool to restore Baja to what is really "Baja".
I don't think, due to current events that it would survive. Economics that are not going to revive for sometime on both sides of the border. "BUT"
bring back a ol' fashion Lobster plate at a real deal and it would be a deal. Personally I think the Langosta need a break.
Lawyer in Blue Jeans- give me a break, enjoy your condo in
Rosarito or is it 2 you purchased? Were looking at years of 2-3 before my close friends will be convinced to come south. And thats with my escort.
Thanks Senor Hugo for the pier, condos and the greed that spread from the US. This is Baja not Cancun,CBS or Puerto Vallarta. The water is
cold, polluted and needs infrastructure--a real infrastructure!!!! Sewage, real Bomberos and some US trained paramedics etc.
Now, gringos have lost millions on bad real estate, with "0"
recourse. My favorite is in Salsipuedes in the land slide area.
How many of these monolithic structures are now going to rot!
My friends in the business in Ensenada say at least 21 are
BK'ed.
Bastante!!!!!!!!!!

Rich n Linda are right, this is an old post, but thanks for the comments. I could only do the show again if I had solid sponsors and now is a
difficult time to find them to promote baja (you'd think it would be the other way as they really need to get the word out).
If I ever have the chance to do the show again, I will and I'll let all of you know as the Nomads were great listeners and participated always.
Thanks,
Ted
