Trip report

We just returned from a two week trip to Punta Chivato. Roads down are great, with some rough spots between Santa Rosalia and Palo Verde. The new Pemex looks ready to open north of town. The road to PC was pretty rough, but fine in 4WD. Campers, motorhomes and vehicles towing boats were doing just fine. The weather was fantastic (although I hear it is raining today) and there were few bugs. We had several days with swarms of dragonflies around the house. Baby turtles were hatching on the beach. That is an experience of a lifetime! A couple of cautionary items, though....police in TJ are pulling over gringos near the entrance to the San Ysidro border crossing line. They have a lane blocked off so when you change into the other, they want to ticket you for not signaling in time. Be aware! Also, we witnessed a head on accident between the Manadearo army stop and the town as you descend the grade. Everyone lived, but it was quite an effort to secure one flipped van from further rolling downhill. The lesson here is DO NOT drive too fast or pass on curves. We also found a wonderful restaurant on the side street in Ensenada that McDonalds is located on. It is called Guadelajara and features asada and roasted meats. It is not touristy, the food is great and the service very friendly.

Thanks for the info. There are a couple of Micky-D's in Ensenada so can you give more precise directions to the Guadedajara restaurant? Sounds intertesting indeed.
