baja 1000, great race

one of the best action ive seen in a long time. we had a great location right by my place in the bay of la with a great big arroyo going right across the road wich ate alot of racers. heres travis pastrona with his rail upside down on fire , he was shaken up but ok. all of us had a great time.:bounce::coolup:

Well, maybe "all had a good time" except for Travis,
looks like his day was not going too well.
Never got upside down, and only caught on fire once, in the 1000.
It was out in the washes above Valle de Trinidad and the battery cable shorted out and started a small fire in the pickup bed.
Tossed some sand on the fire, cleaned up the cable connections, and boogied on to San Felipe....
great memories!!!!!

Here's the rig after the race at L.A. Bay... Their lives were saved by the people who saw this happen near the Camp Gecko road... A mile or two further away and the two racers would not be alive today.

Interesting photo David!
Brings some of the reality home, in a hurry.
Sadly, we brought one home in worse shape than that, and one of our guys did not get to come home.

let it be known that it was a fellow nomad steve (4baja) that pulled travis pastrana from the burning car even though he was trying to get steve to push the car over and continue the race.

Baja Nomad 'aha baja' (Curtis) showed me the photos last Friday when we saw him at Paulina's... He emailed me the photos of the crash and driver today... Here are 8 of those photos. Thanks ahabaja!

If you check out the side of the rig you'll see a "Red Bull" logo upside down. The sales motto: "Red Bull gives you wings" could have been real usefull to get over the huge trenches in the road... fortunately Travis and shotgun didn't wind up sprouting any because of the accident! A wittness told me that 4 Baja (Steve) was near enough to the accident to help pull the victims from the wreckage! If so then good on ya Steve!:D

I'm not sure if this will come up as a link, but I found it on Youtube last night. It is of the clean up the next day. You might even see fellow Nomads in the footage.
