Wo0o0o0W...that was scary, about 5 minutes ago i was sitting at the PC when all of a sudden....EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!!! there has been three...well actually there has been one every day for the last three days...here in bahia asuncion everyone is out on the street in fear of another...first there was a small one, mom said it was bigger than the others but it felt small to me...thenabout 10 minutes after came the second one...they were about 5 seconds each but it was enough to give us goose bumps...wonder if there's gonna be one tomorrow???:?:

Little quakes I believe are good because they relieve the pressure. But if it's volcanic..... Ohhhh Boy. LOL and keep us informed. Nothing in Punta Chivato.

So if it is volcanic, would that be why it doesn't show up on any websites...does there have to be a station nearby to register these tremors?? Are volcanic tremors localized like it has been here, it seems to only affect about a 10 mile radius. Hey maybe that's why the water is so warm....boiling below!

Shari, there is something going on just in your neighborhood it seems.

I am now guessing fishermen dynamiting or some mine operation. Maybe time to drive around and interview people and get them to point to where the blasts seemed to come from.

Is there local policia that can make official comment or do you need to get the army to come to Bahia Asuncion and witness this?

Things that are mistaken for earthquakes: blasting, landslide movement, heavy construction equipment moving about, sonic booms, etc.

Earth Shaking Events

Perhaps it came from the Beach Crowd Friday and Saturday night at Rancho Percebu.

Their explosive activities seemed like they could have generated ground shaking hundreds of miles away. Unfortunately, no one found dead on the beach in the morning

No David, fishermen are not dynamiting anything. In the last hour it has shaken 7 times for 5 seconds at a time....a news flash came on the VHF from La Paz saying it is a result of some volcanic activity somehwere nearbye, there is alot of built up energy that needs to be released....it is shaking as I write this right now! Every few seconds now....I'm going outside, this is just too scary to be inside....hopefully back soon...

I seems to only be felt slightly in Pta.Prieta about 25 miles from here, nothing in tortugas or San Hipolito so it has a small range...fiercest shaking is right here at the point but the whole village reports houses cracking...I keep thinking well it's gonna settle down as the last 5 days has only shaken 2 or 3 times a day but it seems to like this sunset hour most although has done it's thing in the wee hours and at bedtime which is very unnerving. The La Paz guy said to maintain calm that they think it's just some volcanic farting...hmmm. I'm gonna stay put and see what happens but I do have my car pointed towards the nearest hill and a little pack ready with my papers and such, maybe I'll turn off the gas tank too. The La Paz report made me feel a little better, lets hope they aren't lulling us into a false sense of security here.

"Volcanic Farting"???????

That would do it for me------------I would be "out-of-there". Interesting that they are so "calm" about it in La Paz where they will remain uneffected.

"Plumes of smoke"????? Do you smell any strange gases?? Like a sulfur smell, and/ or "brimestone" smell??? This would be a "clue" to be taken seriously!!
