Elk for dinner at Camp Gecko (aha baja photo)

From aha baja:

Hey David heres is a mini fiesta prepared by our friends at Gecko in the first two casitas pietras on you right as you drive into camp. Andy and Mary from K Falls Ore. A decorated huey door gunner vet in nam he prepared ELK that he nailed with his compound bow from 100 yds.in Ore. I made cole slaw, Mary made double rise biscuits from scrach! German potatoe salad chili con carne ,etc One of those "I eat better down here than at home dinners" PS you may post this if you want. Im still working out the technique. Your amigo ,Curt

Andy and Mary from Oregon...

I remember their delicious smoked yellowtail from the refrigerator that they so graciously offered my friend Bob and me (back in February of 2003).

I swan they are living the best of all possible retirements between Oregon and Bay of L. A.

COOL FOTO!

Andy has taught archery classes as he is a grand national champion archer. He showed me the picture of the field dressed elk and a close-up of the elks heart. you could see the triangle of the tip of the arrow very near the middle of the heart!!! Andy said that he thought the elk didn't even know it had been hit and that it walked about 25 yds ,laid down and died. The rest is delicious! Thanks David!

When I first saw the post heading " Elk for dinner at Camp Gecko," I immediately thought of Andy and Mary. This year will be the first year that we will not see Andy and Mary since my son was 2 years old. I'm pretty sure that that Camp Gecko trip is the earliest memory my son can recall. He especially remembers the red house (cabin #6). If anybody has their email, can you please 2U2 it to me?

Thanks Steve (4baja)!

We were racing sundown to show Josh as much as Bahia as we could. Seemed like most of the gang was at Paulina's when we drove down from town.

We did find Mike H's final resting spot on the way back from Paulina's.

That Friday & Saturday the weather was sooo perfect!

How is Beach Bob doing? Every time I visit with him he promisses to post on Nomad local news and event updates...

Last we saw him was when I brought Elizabeth by on New Years 2005.

See you next time!

Perhaps guest cottages for friends on vacation?

We really miss camping at Gecko where friends from the Internet could socialize...

Yes Steve, I know you wanted me to lease a spot there... I just couldn't do it until Chris and Sarah were done growing up... $$$$

dave this was suppose to be dk adressed to you letting you know about the situation with leases but this guy took it a different way. i guess he must be feeling guilty about something again. anyway all the property up front has been leased out includeing the white ones. there still is property back behind us without veiws and up behind docs place. many of us have leased multiple lots for more storage and garage space. im leaveing this weekend to secure another lot and will be back tuesday with a little more info. will be a short trip.
