La Pinta Hotel - San Quinten
Accomidations in the SQ area are often reported and the La Pinta is often mentioned but not recomended because of price. I stayed there on 1/3/07 and
found that after not staying there for several years the hotel has been largely renovated. The rooms are nicely done with all new fixtures and baths
as well as remote control heating units in the walls. The food is good and reasonably priced. The asking price for a single room was $8?? pesos but
after presenting my La Pinta Baja Travel Discount card the price was $5?? pesos. A very pleasent experience and well worth the price.

After having been so disappointed in La Pintas over the years...actually since they were first built on the trans-peninsula highway....I doubt I am
ever going to risk staying in one again.
I can remember: no hot water, no heat, generator noise, theft from parked car, food poisoning, and bad value-prices.
But thanks for the report, osoflojo.
It is nice to know at least one person has enjoyed the experience.

We stayed at La Pinta San Quintin last fall and thought it was a very nice hotel. They were just finishing up the remodel. They even let us bring
our dogs.

Summanus, I agree with what you say but these folks have truly cleaned up their act.

Yeah, dog friendly all right,
the dog in the room next to us barked for hours two weeks ago at this place.
And the price, way outrageous..... sorry I did not have the magic card.
It is certainly adequate, just not worth the price.
(I did leave the dome lite on in my Honda and a few minutes later the clerk came up and told me, that was much appreciated.)

Nice to know it was redone----and always happy to hear dog friendly.
Since we get our insurance from the Discover Baja Club, we get their discount coupons, but have never used them. Is that the discount coupon you
used? When we stayed at the La Pinta in Catavina, we didn't have the coupons with us---left them home by mistake.

Glad to know that it has been remodeled. The location is beautiful. We must have found 100 sand dollars beach combing.
The last time we were there we stayed in the spa suite. I bet that would be nice now...it was kinda moldy then.

Stayed there many times and always had a good experience. Good service, decent food, friendly, electricity 24/7, lots of hot water with good
pressure, quiet masonry/concrete construction, and it sits on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Que mas quieres?? ++Ken++

a discount card is available to anyone with an FM 3 who goes in to any La Pinta and applies. you've got to show the FM3. you can pick it up in about
two weeks at any LP you choose, except for Catavina for some reason, but you will get a receipt for the application that you can use immediately at
any LP. it give you 40 or 50%, sorry I forget which, off room and 40% off food.
I've never used mine...managed to total the car before getting to Catavina last trip, see previous posts re experiences with insurance companies...but
figured with my itinerary it might be nice to break up trips there. had never considered staying in a LP because of price and reputation but with
discount and inconveniently placed hotels for my travels might do it some day.
will keep an open mind, thanks for the discussion.

well, that's good to hear - we used to call that place the "shining" hotel
and the "twilight zona" hotel - depending on what was happening:
strange noises, wierd stuff with locks and doors. strange human forms lurking about.
unspeakable food and service.
something in our drinks that made us want to consume our young.......you know, stuff like that.

Twilight Zone at the old Presidente/La Pinta hotels....
We remember those strange times, too. Back when they were all Presidentes. A very weird feeling would come over you in the middle of the night...and
the wind would start to howl in the desert.
A local goatherder told us of strange creatures that inhabited the area. He would not talk openly about them...except to murmur the
word...chupacabras.
We had one in our room the last time we stayed at La Pinta.
I managed to snap a photo of this one on our last terrified stay...just before it attacked our dog and sucked the blood from it's body....
Our dog was a Great Dane.

Bob and Susan, sorry that was supposed to represent $800 something pesos and $500 something pesos. Unless I have made it even less
clear.............rhintransit that is the same process I followed to get the card only they let me pick mine up in Catavinia, quin sabes............

Looks like something I saw down on the bayou one night, had a gator chowing down on its extremities with a sack full of crawfish making off with
chum-like pieces, there was a large dog making a clean gettaway. He was howling at the moon if my memory serves me correctly.

La Pinta is VERY nice....
for us staying in a room for 6 hours $50-$80 is too high when other rooms are $25
If we stayed ANY longer we would surely stay there...
