noticed that the vw bus that was just south of cativina on the east side is gone. like to stop there for a snack on the way south, probably some gringo brought it north to restore it. just curious.

Are you sure you're not talking about the

tamale van on the east side of the road north of Guerrero Negro. It's still there with some mighty tasty chicken tamales.

The first time we stopped So. of Catavina to check out the VW Bus, years ago, we were in our Cal-Trans Orange VW Bus. It must not have been there very long, as it was still mostly intact, with doors, glass, seats, etc - no motor or tranny. Each trip by, there was more and more stuff missing, till it was nothing but a 'shell'. And now with the bones picked clean, the 'car'cus is gone - sad. It was a great landmark!

I think the best picture of that VW Bus was posted on Amigos a fews years back - the pic was titled 'Nicki' - for those that may remember, and she was standing in front, 'starkers'. It must have been a cool day, as I recall she had a couple of large 'goose bumbs'! That would have been hoot to drive by during that picture shoot!

'Nicki'

That was great... Do you remember what 'M' said about the photo of naked Nicki (Nicki wore only shoes)? Anyone from the old Amigos board remember? I don't want to spoil it, as I don't recall the exact words...

That was funny!! Even though she was a skinny, skanky-looking chick, no one, including myself noticed her stilletto heels until M said something like "who would wear those in the desert??:lol::lol:

Hi Ski,

Oh boy, what did I do now? If it was the comment in your post, I'm sorry about that. I tried to use the 'reply' button but it was not working. I promise! It won't happen again.:smug:

Are we talking about the split window bus that someone (I think it was Pacoderm) was using as an avatar for a while?? I have taken pictures every time I have gone by and have also written my name inside the bus each time. I would have brought it home to restore, but I just could not remember my wife saying that she wished I would drag home another old bus. I also have great pics of another pre-68 bus down in the Todos Santos area, if I can locate them, I will post. Keep on truckin'

Neal, if it's a restoration project you're interested in I have a far less costly alternative. A 79 Westfalia in good running condition.

Dave,

It will have to get in line behind several other VW vans and my kitchen remodel, but in other words, I'm real interested, considerably more so than my wife would be. Maybe we could do a cash under the table deal and she wouldn't even notice there was one more in the shop.

Kitchen remodel? You wouldn't need one if you got the westfalia.:light:

If it is has a port-a-potty I could also skip the bathroom remodel.

I'll throw one in, no extra cost AND a one month supply of TP. What color?
