Jim, i have an interest in exploring bahia san carlos just south of El Rosario. www.solosports.net for camping and a heat escape.
your dates sound good.
there is another SOCAL based surfer, Eric, posting on BBP who flies out of Montgomery, he's done Isla Nativida and is looking at san carlos and others for the summer, check in with him.

Jim - just got a call from a friend who has a place in El Sororro right on the airstrip next to the beach. he is gone till oct but says a ton of surfers use that area, 8 miles south of san quintin. there are a few camping palapas and showers.

i got my radar on it now.

Hey Jim,

I am planning a trip around that time but my dates are not set yet. I was not going to get all the way down to Scorpion Bay, only going as far south as Bahia Asuncion....I'll let you know when the dates get more solid.

Hey Surfer Jim-

The wife and I head out this weekend for 2-3 weeks. We'll definitely check in with Juan and Shari in Asuncion at some point, drive down to Abreojos, head out to Scorpion Bay, and ultimately end up at our friend's place in Elias Calles, south of Todos Santos. I think we might even brave the heat and stop by and visit Pancho at Playa San Rafael on the way down.

I drive a silver Tacoma with an Autohome on the shell. And yes, I'm one of those crazy cyclists/triathletes...but you wouldn't catch me on my road bike in Baja.

If our paths cross, I've always got beers on ice...Pacificos and Sierra Nevadas.

San Juanico crowds thin when a swell does hit. No longer 60 longboarders in the lineup, it's down to 50 pros who all fly in for the points to maybe connect.
And hey, now there's pavement all the way up from La Purisima.
One of my favorite off road trips gone to the blacktop.

Jim, we will be in El Rosario the 19th -22nd and will be doing the south road from Punta Baja to San Carlos.

Sheri, i am concerned with security at the strip, especially if i come in solo.

its about what - 4,5 miles or klicks from town on an access road?

no military right?

what's the chances of hiring a local as a guard for a day wage?

Mike..no problem...I've never heard of any problem and we do get several planes here that leave thier craft at the strip unattended...and of course I will personally meet you and taxi you around...usually I like to let the military know you are coming...they are much nicer when they get advance warning of a plane coming in...they are used to me now and I give them all the particulars and they are happy...if you think you need it thers a friend of ours who looks after all the planes...he's the plane guy and would happily check on your baby or guard it for you but really not necessary...the strip is in "plane" view of the village so vandals won't risk being seen...never happened. Just call me and let me know when you are coming and we'll have everything ready for ya. see all; you guys real soon...please bring fishing permits if you want to go fishing! Zac, can't wait to have a Sierra Nevada!

the military is actually a navy base here in town and they come out usually when they see a plane land...if you are fast you can get picked up and be out before they get there...a plane landed today and I thought it might be you! look forward to seeing you...so there is a nice swell building today and all the kids are out at all the breaks around here. It looks bigger than the 5' reported swell and they beached the pangas it was so rough. BajaBoy just left this morning for Abreojos and then south and will be back here next week.
