Jorge ---- In or Out?
We were recently discussing the news that Jorge Hank Rhon's candidacy was ruled illegal. Yesterday, July 2, they plastered parts of Punta Banda
with new signs, portraying Jorge's airbrushed mug and, selling his run for the governors office.
What happened? What did I miss?

Plastered? It was more like a blizzzard, all the way to Ensenada. I haven't seen anything in the noticias about a decision, but I'm guessing Hank
knows something we don't, like when the checks will clear.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Rhon has been allowed to continue his run for governor of BC.
Here's a link to the story in the UT:

And I thought Jorge was toast. The big decision is supposed to come down today.

Jorge is in. The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the Baja State law (la ley chapulin) violated a citizen's right to vote for whomever he wished.
I still think Osuna Millan can beat him.

actually, from my reading of the news, the baja supreme court ruled a few weeks ago that he could not run because of the ley "anti-chapulín."
Yesteray, the federal elections commission tribunal (federal trumps the state) ruled that the state could not abridge a person's right to run, because
that is guaranteed by the mexican constitution.
if i got that wrong, do let me know, as i've been following this with lots of interest, and now, pessimism
what hank has doene for tijuana, we hardly need for baja california, imho

Another curious point......... According to the news, he was to refrain from campaigning until the decision was handed down. That, from what I can
gather, was yesterday.
Four or five days ago, his posters were strewn about the area in large numbers, nailed to power poles for miles along the roads. If this isn't
campaigning, what is?
It also indicated that the future decision was known in advance by the PRI party and Jorge.
It seems nothing has changed much. They do what they want to do, with impunity.

Yeah, Dennis, we saw his red shirts climbing ladders about 4-5 days ago all over Punta Banda, La Buf, Maneadero putting those darn posters up on every
CFE pole - or wait? are those Telnor??? poles -- but either way Jorge has them covered in both directions on both sides of the road. Which strikes me
as funny since most, if not 90%, of the population in this part of the world is TOURIST. I don't even mean full-tiem like us gringos, but tourists,
like off of the cruise ship. Last time I checked, they couldn't vote in Mexico, but I could be wrong.
