I will. I know many people thought it was just a "rag," but I thought it had a lot of good info.........

Well I did not know her that well and only read a few articles, but in my opinion she did a good job. Is she moving all operation to Cabo...or are
they the same paper? Read the one down there a lot more.
As for the realtors in torres group, it is too late...only an out of step fool would buy a condo there now. The damage the cops there has caused will
take forever to over come...it is time to dump and run...
There is a reason we have free press in the US.
I hope this is not just a rumor from B.D.'s...well sorta good if the GG is not gone...

The two papers are not related.
So I guess Carrie will continue here in BCS.

In fact the front page story on the new Gringo Gazette is about the Rosarito Beach police being under military control.

Yes, it's true. The current issue is the last one. I just received a confirming email from Nancy Conroy, the editor and publisher. Please note she
stresses this was professional decision.

Does this mean that it just ceases to exist? Even though many disagree with her, it's a shame to lose a voice.

I'm confused. I've been reading this rag for years and always was under the impression that it was from Cabo san Lucas. They had a south and a north
edition, also available free on line. Is this a different Gazette, and 2 with the same moniker ??

Here is exactly what I got from her a few minutes ago.....
Bernie,
There is no deportation/arrest/harassment/kidnapping. I have not received any new pressure from anyone. I have simply decided that it is time for me
to move on personally and professionally.

You are so right. It's really sad to think that all we seem to have left is Torres' Baja Crimes.

The Gringo Gazette in Baja Sur is NOT the same paper and as far as I know, no affiliation. The Gringo Gazette North will be gone with the wind when
the current issue is exhausted from the newstands. A true loss for Baja Norte for many reasons. And she told me the same thing as she told Bernie.
Hey! Why would anyone come to Baja to WORK? There are too many other things to do!!! But, we'll truly miss the paper.

I don't know how she did it all those years. She never backed down. I hope she can keep an on-line version going in some form. Torres' people used
to steal all the copies off the racks every week and it was hard to get a hard copy to read anyway.

It's not the first to quietly fade away. The Baja Sun, published by Mike Bircumshaw folded some years back when it appeared to be flourishing with
a north and south edition. It started back in the eighties as the Ensenada News and Views and was owned by Jean Loup Bitterlin who's family owns the
El Rey Sol. It was local news put together by locals, mostly 24 hours before deadline, in Chuy's Cantina. It was fun. In fact, that was a fun time
in Ensenada.
I don't understand why these papers don't have value and can't be sold although I don't think Conroy is being candid about her reasons to quit. I
believe the pressure on her was intense. She stepped on some pretty big toes and for that, I'll miss here.
Oh well, she's a lawyer. She'll be fine.

Gringo Gazette North
...will be missed.
Nancy Conroy and I had clashes over business objectives and focus, but the Gringo Gazette North (emphasis, not the Gringo Gazette South) has been a
consistently valuable, independent and pretty reliable source for news and events for the English language community in Baja.
Her political and legal reporting has garnered worldwide coverage (Hint: google "Blackwater" and "Gringo Gazette")
I wish her well in her future endeavors.

Too bad. I will miss it.
My hat is off to Nancy for standing up and printing the news that no one else would print. I actually was surpised she lasted this long. Probably
better for her health to move on.
