? for weather buffs

Looking for a simple wind speed/direction thingy, not hand held. googled it but got a lot of home weather stations in the $150 on up range but not sure if I wanna go that route. Simply want to know the wind speed/direction without getting out of my chair unless it's on the way to the beer cooler.

The answer...

Santiago, read the site below for a build-your-own and very economical wind speed/direction station:

I also use the Lacross wireless station from weather shack.

It works great !

But I love Pompano's solution, reminds me of my scout days .
