LA PAZ restaurant recommendations please!
Please share with me your faves in La Paz!!!! Where to go and where to avoid! We have a small child in tow as well! Thanks!

For a great local dining experience, try the small restaurant at Hotel Yeneka. They have a nice little courtyard there. Used to have a Monkey tied
up in the trees, but he died. Now they have stuffed him and he sits in an antique car inside the patio area. My wife and I had a fantastic home made
meal there. Hotel Yeneka is located at Calle Madero #1520 in La Paz. Telephone 011-52 (612) 122-4688.

We have always enjoyed breakfast at Kiwi which is right on the water at the east end of the malecon. Midweek mornings finds all the local business
people having 'power' breakfasts.
We have also had some excellent meals at La Mar y Pe?a,the menu is huge and mostly seafood. It is a 4 or 5 dollar cab ride from Los Arcos hotel.
We have also enjoyed some excellent seafood at Restaurant Pichilingue. It is on the beach just north of the ferry. Thatch roof ,sand floor,nice
people, great view.

Little Bismark on the Malacon
had seafood soup to make your socks fall off! Best tacos in town....great little open air restaurant......great food, great service, good portions ans
decent price.

La Fonda is #1 Choice
Restaurants in La Paz
La Fonda Located 3 blocks off the Malecon, at the intersection of Bravo and Madero has tablecloths and excellent service. The quality control is
obvious. Jorge, the owner, talks with the customers and provides a selection of about 7 or 8 home cooked meals to choose from the "comida corrida" or
"fast food" menu every day. The meals are served up with soup, entree with rice/beans, and glass of Jamaica tea with Jell-O for dessert. You can eat
inside or on the patio. There is a regular menu as well.
Le Bistrot Francais Located one block off the malecon on Mutualismo, about a half a block away from 16 de Septiembre. This nice French restaurant is
in an old house with a pleasant courtyard framing the eating area. I highly recommend the pork steak in mustard sauce. Great service. Higher cost
than other places.
El Zarape Great Mexican food located at Calle Mexico between Oaxaca and Nayarit. Breakfast buffets and early dinner buffets are special. Locals eat
there.
La Pazta Only for Italian food lovers. Recommend the shrimp lasagna but all dishes seem good. Ignacio Allende 1/2 block from Malecon around the
corner from Hotel Los Arcos. Good wine selection or bring your own. Higher cost than other places.
Caf? Callejon Indoor and outdoor eating with good, simple Mexican food, tasty coffee stand and cheapest hi-speed Internet at 9 pesos per hour (80
cents at current exchange). Around the corner from Hotel Perla on Callejon (alley) La Paz.
Adriana A charming restaurant on the waterside of the malecon at Calle Victoria with prices a little more reasonable than the Kiwi.
La Costa A little off the beaten path, Navarro and the beach, a couple blocks past Marina La Paz. This restaurant has good seafood and good service.
Family run. Pool tables and two bars.
El Nuevo Pekin The best option among the Asian restaurants in town on the malecon.
Road stands
Super Tacos de Baja California - Hermanos (Hnos.) Gonzalez ? Excellent fish, crab and shrimp tacos and plenty of "fixings" to liven up your meal even
more. Located on Mutualismo a block off the malec?n, just west of the Hotel Perla. Also, other Hnos. Gonzalez stands located around town near the
public markets.
Birria Jalisco ? Across the street from ?Super Tacos? on Mutualismo. Dynamite goat stew and tacos.
Not Impressed with?
Kiwi?s, Caf? Choya, Restaurant Drag?n, Carlos & Charlies, Tequila's Bar & Grill and Bismarksito (little bismark)

La Paz restaurants
We always make a point of eating at
La Marina de LaPaz. It's a floating restaurant with fine food.
Also- we try to make it out to the restauant on the left in Tecolote. Not good if it's a cool windy day. Looking out at the Island while birds are
eating crums from the floor. Good seafood.

Dont' forget the street food, I've found the best to be just outside the California Pension across from the MAS store super clean and freash every
day.
If you go to Bismark look fro the combo! Lobster shrimp and fillet . the cook knows how to cook that stuff and the folks are realy cool there.

Put Kiwi back on the list for "kid friendly"
Your child can play in the sand while you enjoy the view and eat. That's always a plus, even if it's not the absolute best food in town.
The aforementioned selection is a very good one, especially Gull's list. I would also add the Bermejo, which is the restaurant in Los Arcos. Nice
atmosphere and high quality food, albeit a little pricey.
I would also, oddly enough, add the Burger King, which is right on the Malecon, has a nice play unit for kids and, believe it or not, has way better
burgers than the BKs in the States. At least, as of last summer, they served a really high quality product, with actual fresh red tomatoes (a total
anomoly here!).
One tip. If your child is very, very small, you may be disappointed to find that high chairs are very few and far between. Take two of the resin
chairs that almost all the restaurants use and stack one on top of the other. It makes a very doable substitute.
Last but not least, you will find almost every eating establishment in La Paz to be kid friendly. It's a culture that likes children, so you never
hear anybody carping about children or insisting that your young children behave themselves like miniature adults.
The only time I ever got condescension over a child in Mexico was one time I decided to let my youngest cry it out over a toy in Ley. I realized
after she'd tantrumed for a couple of minutes, that I never saw children allowed to tantrum in public and that everyone was just mortified that mine
was. They strongly prefer to placate the child.
When my kids were little, one of the strongest draws of La Paz was how family friendly the people are. You'll find your little one to be the
centerpiece of your interactions with many Pazenos instead of the outsider in tow so many people treat children like here.
Also, be sure and fit your child as young as about 15 months old with one of those floation suits you find not at Taget and Walmart and everywhere.
They're wonderful for swimming in the calm waters of La Paz without the child having to cling onto you.

'Course we did!
Here's where we ended up...we stayed at La Concha and ate quite a bit at the restaurant there...I must say that the food there was excellent, and much
better than the last time we stayed..Actually the resort is supposed to undergo a bunch of upgrades within the next year, they just got insurance $$$
from the hurricane last year...another great thing is they are building the road to go behind the mountain there, and will be re-routing the trucks
there so the road noise at the hotel will be minimized, which will be a great improvement!
Our faves were also Bermejos (ate a great lobster meal there, didn't think the $$ was too bad) Palapa Adriana, and Bistrot Francaise...
Ate at but not at all impressed with La Pazta (maybe pizza is NOT the thing to order there?), it was recommended by so many people and I just didnt'
get it, Dragon (next time will try the other chinese place that was recommended).
Also ate at the place at Tecolote Beach....the shrimp was delicious but the bill was OUTRAGEOUS! Never again!
Would like to find a good taco place, not just for fish but for carne asada, chicken and beef al carbon style??? For next time!!!!
