San Diego-Cabo Sept 1

Looking to see if anyone else wants join for the trip.

Expect to take 4 days to Cabo. We've driven the Baja 15 times and twice in the last year.
We have a F350 Diesel pulling a 35' fith wheel.

We will cross at TJ Labor Day around 9:00 AM.
Stop at El Rosario for Lobster at Mama's.
Tuesday we travel to Rice and Beans at San Ignacio.
Wednesday to La Paz and get to Cabo on Thursday barring problems.

Drove down last year over Labor day and saw only one other RVer.

I understand your concerns giving the exposure of constant postings on this and other boards but I urge you to really look at those postings. Most have been rehashing old incidents or more recent incidents that are highly unlikely to affect tourists. I really wasn't able to find any significant incident since the Baja 1000 incident last Oct. that involved tourists. Granted the running war between law enforcement and the cartels continues but highly unlikely to involve you.

I just made the drive to La Paz and back and actually felt more secure than in past years. I think this was due to an increased presence of the Federale Policia who were actually out patrolling the roads and not just escorting dignataries which seemed to be their sole purpose years ago. On this trip, every interaction with officialdom (immigration, customs, and military checkpoints) was polite and professional.

Headed down with just my truck (GMC Duramax 4X4) jammed to the gills with furniture and we were waved through every checkpoint. Headed north towing my boat home we were only asked to exit the truck at one checkpoint and then they only made a quick check of the truck and didn't even climb on the boat. It was so unlike years past when they wanted to haggle over your Maglight or anything else that caught their fancy at every stop.

Each of us must make a personal choice of what constitutes an acceptable level of safety. There are no guarantees in life, anywhere. I can only only share my personal experience but the final decision on whether to go is a personal one for each of us. I did make the decision to take Hwy 3 from Ensenada to Tecate for my crossing north and this decision was not based only on the likelyhood of a 2 hour wait trying to cross on a Sunday afternoon or that I was unfamiliar with the construction detours in TJ and how it would affect manuvering my boat through it. Running the gauntlet of the toll road with a shiney boat with gold anodized rod holders on the tower was a factor in my decision matrix
