Where was this photo taken? Yes, it's by the sea!

The object is no longer there, but was from '67 for some 20 years...

If you know, post "I know" but let others try and guess... I will reveal in a couple days.

Nice try, David!

Everyone knows this is a picture of Shackleton's ship, 'Endurance' trapped on the ice flow of Antarctica during 1907-09....of course it's not there anymore!

At least it looks like it to me....but then, we're a bit 'warped' up here this week with all this 90+ weather....Brain Boil, I guess!

Keep guessing! The photo is from the Internet and is NOT mine, but is from someone I met. When the contest is over, I will provide the URL.

I know, but never saw it in the condition shown in the picture. Round houses are popular in the area.

Winners!!!

OK... Four of you knew: BajaRob, Herb, Pablo S and ViaBaja.. The photo is from ViaBaja's great web site http://www.viabaja.com (very close to my www.vivabaja.com)!

Mexitron was the first to guess correctly!
The shrimp boat was washed into the backwater lagoon just north of (today's)Bahia Santa Maria during the 1967 hurricane that devistated San Felipe.

In 1973, I climbed on board the last time before it began to disappear. The owners had it locked up pretty well, hoping for a super high tide to float her out to sea.
Inside was a Franklin diesel engine.

In 1978, I tried to drive right to it in my first Subaru... I needed help getting unstuck! See that sand beach in the distance? There was a couple guys camping out there (Shell Island)... they showed me the trail onto Shell Island from the mud flats that seperate it from dry land. During the 1980's it really disappeared.

A rusty piece of the Franklin motor was about the last thing remaining when I checked a few years ago.

A photo of it is in Cliff Cross' Baja Guide 1972, 74 editions in the additions section on driving to Puertecitos, on the beach.
