In the ejido on the road from Vizcaino to Asuncion...they erected official looking TOPES signs....but no speed bumps. Get's the tourist to slow down but we all know there aren't any so just fly on by as usual!

I think the same thing would happen with the high tech tope too. Only the tax payers in the States would pay through the nose for something that may work for a week or so. Clever gringos:spingrin:

Like most laws, rules, regulations, ideas, there are the unintended consequences that should be considered but rarely are.

"A report produced by the UK Transport Research Laboratory in February 2001 found that speed bumps can increase urban pollution by up to 60 percent by leading drivers to repeatedly increase and decrease their speed."

I think the world is run by C- students.

Shari naiiled it. About a year ago they built two topes between Chametla and Centenario. 3 weeks later they scraped the bumps and repainted to look like topes. The trucks speed right over the "faux-pes" and almost everyone else too.

They still get me to slow down because I am never sure if they might put the hump back in

They should put the topes back in the middle of the night, only make them about 8 inches high.

Topes work....
Look at El Rosario...used to be like a race track thru that town...slowed em down.

I've seen pictures of them and they look very real.

To save gas, I've taken to REALLY slowing down (Read: to the speed limit) and noticing lead-footed tendancies... seeing how far I can coast is now a game...it's helped!
