Filming of movie "Troy" shifts to B.C.S.

Mexico City, Feb 07, 2003 (EFE via COMTEX) -- U.S. actor Brad Pitt will go to Baja California next month to portray Achilles in the epic "Troy," a film adaptation of The Iliad, officials said Friday.

Shooting will begin in mid-March, according to Alicia Gastelum, of the Film Commission of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.

"Troy" will be produced by Warner Brothers, and Gastelum told that it would cost much more than the Titanic, around $200 million.

"We are very proud of its being filmed here," she said.

Gastelum said more than 400 people would be living in Los Cabos for four months to shoot the movie, adding that a large number of extras would be needed.
