Capt. Mike
Thank you. Yes, the house is on the Munoz property, the strip is maintained by the local users at this time. As you probably know Capitan Munoz died about 2 years ago but some of the other residents here are pilots and drag the runway periodically as needed to keep it operational. It is useable at this time for small aircraft, although the last rains washed out some of the north end, there is still about 2000' at the south end that is good. I am not a pilot, but have lived here for about 10 years now. The Munoz family are great landlords.
Drop in sometime and say "Hi"
Larry

Time share anyone?

multi way ownership can be a very good way to tie up a vaca property like that. i found 2 at Chivato this week with shares for sale on most nice properties. enjoy it like it is 100% yours but only have a % of hard money into it.

a 4 way split on this one would be nice. divide up weeks or months. then share a maintenance pool or reserve plus the lease.

Actually this property would lend itself well to a partnership, wth the main house upstairs over the garage and the guest quarters in front on the water, 2 couples could get away from each other when necessary, and not even see one another. ;D

Cypress,

I don't see any similarities between the Burro Beach post and Larry's ad. His house is on privately owned property, not ejido land. His house is not built in the federal zone, nor have I heard any rumors about lease holders being asked to leave. I don't believe Larry would post his house for sale if that were the case.

His house is located at one of the most desireable areas in the bay, IMO. I wish I could have leased from Francisco Munoz back when I was shopping around for a spot. With the landing strip, it was just too rich for my blood at that time.

Good luck Larry, I hope it sells quickly. It's a super deal.

i can consider some % but not till after the 1st of the year. we'll see how it moves. keep me in mind. i floated this over to the BBP side too. wonder if the power will make its way that far south?? BOLa is only 2 hours away from phx for me, cuts an hour off the time to get to Mulege. that's a huge savings in travel expense. i only need a few long weekends rotated and some portion of holidays.

Mike,

Regarding the power, the answer I've heard over and over again is NO. The farthest it's gone south is to the edge of the last Diaz compound before Angelitos, or the old mining stamp mill set into the red mountain.

I know there are a few fulltimers down that way who are crossing their fingers for that answer to change, but according to the powers that be, it's not going to happen.

P.

Mike, have a look at Larry Hahn's web page ( http://www.bajadreams.com ) for some photos of L.A. Bay (Papa Diaz' Resort) nearly 50 years ago... L.A. Bay 'town' was mostly turtle fishermens shacks and Papa Diaz' employees back then. Diaz' is/ was the center of the town. The runway was parallel to the beach and pilots could taxi up to their rooms at Casa Diaz... That's how I remember it in 1967... (next two photos from Larry's site)

Francisco Muņoz had his Baja Air Sevice and landed there with the big twin passenger plane.

Just a sample of the many photos on Larry's web site (Capt. Muņoz at L.A. Bay)

That 'downtown' strip was closed with the arrival of a paved road and growing population in the late 70's early 80's.

Camp Daggett's is north of town... here is Reuben Daggett's father Dick Daggett Jr. in a 1966 photo. Dick was the town mechanic back then... made cap gun toys for the town boys out of spark plugs and nails (I got one from him... I was 9, good fun).

Not to contradict what Paulina heard, but the rumor I heard was that power would come down south, at least as far south as Lucy's house. (Lucy is Guierrmos' sister, of Guierrmos' restaurant) they rented their house to the electric company. Also heard that Sammy Diaz is pushing to get the power all the way to Rincon, I guess it would make his property more valuable. There are no end to the rumors you can hear down there, what could be next, maybe someone will try to buy the whole ejido for $800,000,000. Anyway I am just suprised to see power to the town in my lifetime.
Larry
PS Mike, most if not all of what the Diaz's own is south of town, but I am sure that some of Sammys' relatives have property north of town also. The power is going out to the La Gringa area soon, supposedly as far as the military base, which would include Los Vientos, but it is not there yet. I'm sure Roger at Villa Bahia will be happy to see power.

PPS David, thanks for the pics, the one of Francisco is priceless, I would love to have known him in that era. He loved the ladies. He was known as " The kissing Captain" His widow, leysel, says she met him on a flight to Baja, he introduced himself, kissed her hand and never let it go. He also had some great stories of flying around Baja with Earle Stanley Gardener.

Hey Larry and Lois,
Man I can't believe the place didn't go in the first 24 hrs at what you are asking. After spending a month in BCS last Oct looking at property, we found nothing for 4 times the cost at half as good a location.
If it weren't for being so down financially from major repairs on 2 joints on my body and the lousy construction business this last year, this would have been gone the day it hit our e-mail. But alas!
This place is sorted out folks, as only a very smart retired fireman would make it. Someone will score, maybe even us if things turn around, you never know.
How's things at the new pad you two?
Give the pooches a scratch for me.
Will
