Mag Bay whales

I've read several posts about the whales ay San Ignacio, but very little about Mag Bay. When I in that area the last time (mid 80's), it was desolate. Are there any accomodations in the area? Maybe a whale watch camp?

Do the tours originate in Loreto? thanks

#1 whale watching site IMHO

i visited the 4 major viewing sites this last Feb. In my opinion Puerto Lopez Mateos was by far the best place to visit the California Grey Whale, and these are my reasons:
pot hole free paved road to the bay...
secure free parking lot...
camping area...
many good restaurants...
fair priced and friendly tour operators...
super clean banos...
dock to board pangas safely...
you see whales from dock...
5 min. to whale grounds...
barrier island = calm water...
many,many friendly whales(petting zoo)...
pods of dolphins to trip with...
barrier island =bird watching...
great guides...paid for 2hr. out 4 hours...

unlike GN or Laguna San Ignacio, wind is not a factor here, plus it does not take 45 min. to get to the whales...puerto San Carlos sucked...hope this helped...

I hear the whales song

young grey dead in San Francisco

There is a young dead grey at Ocean Beach today which they fear will attract some nasty shark feedings.
Suspects in the killing are a pod of Orcas which have been patrolling the coast of late looking for young greys headed North.
