The Old Man and the Sea

Didn't know weather to post this in the Fishing thread or here.

Told myself that prior to our trip to Bahia Asuncion I would read The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Started it this morning and my heart is pumping, want to get out there in Juan's Panga and watch him and Tim land a big one. Doesn't even have to be a Marlin.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the resemblance of Anthony Quinn and Tim uncanning?

Also, if you have not, read The Pearl by John Steinbeck. The story takes place in Baja.

It is short, easy read, with big messages, and will make you cry.

I used to have a copy of the old black and white film of the movie in Spanish --- made in Mexico. I used to show it to my students after we read this book-----movie was quite different.

And yes, Tim does look like Quinn!

Tim also could enter into the Ernest Hemingway look alike contest that I have been to in Key West a number of times. Now that was fun. Maybe we should institute something like that as part of our Nomad days Fiesta (whatever that is) Ah but then Tim would win for sure so whats the use.:biggrin:

Osprey you do look like Hemmingway.

I too have been told that I look like someone famous. Sissy Spacek in the Excorsist with her head going round and round. I was not amused.

Shari I am working on finding the movie for you and Juan. It may be the one with Spensor Tracy. Glad to hear people liked it as much if not more.
