Guitars and mules
If you are taking a guitar remember to LOOSEN the strings before packing it in the case. If you don't there is a very good chance the bridge will
start to come OFF!!! Also the cute little 3/4 size Amigo guitar w a 3/4 size hardshell case is not as bulky for the mules to carry and pretty cheap
too. AND take along the new little electronic tuner that makes getting the strings back to perfection a breeze. I made the mistake of NOT loosening
the strings once-no music from it for the rest of that trip and a bridge repair trip when I got home.
My other 4WD is a Baja Mule!

I second the above!
More things to bring:
headlamp or flashlight w/ extra batteries
Hiking poles if you have them (the trails to the caves are steep and narrow in places)
Oscar was our guide and wonderful companion. He rode but my friend and I backpacked it and what an excellent trip it was! We returned to my Jeep to
find that every dog around had marked a spot on a tire

When we returned back at the ranch, dusty and tired, a truck pulled up with a cooler full of COLD BEER ($2.00) ea. Maybe you can specifically arrange
that if you want.

I have ridden down twice - it's like childbirth is said to be, you forget the pain. :-)
The slickrock crossing is nothing to worry about, just close your eyes and pray for the mule.
Paula is right about a cushion for your baja. I suggest a thick cushion off your couch. :-) I could not walk when I got to the bottom.
By the way, Baja Bucko (for those who don't know) has ridden Baja mule trails for many years and keeps her own saddle down there between rides. Trust
her. Of course you can trust me too.???
Rider size: Highly experienced guides will give you the proper size animal. See below:

ok, last product endorsement from me: padded cycling shorts under your normal pants or shorts work wonders as a cushion for your trasero. And as they
are well hidden the arrieros will think you are a seasoned ranch hand.

Special info for guys
Guys-you might consider taking a jock as "things happen" with saddle horns, down hill bouncing etc.....won't give you the gory details of the guy I
know who had a buck, went up and came down ON the saddle horn.

My favorite long ride comfort item is a small sheepskin which I also put under my thermarest at night...juan beats any electric tuner!
