La Mijita in El Rosario
After the tragedy of last November, when cartel violence took the life of our good friend Elsa (La Mijita) in El Rosario, we were happy to find that
Santo, Marina, and Ingrid (father, daughter, and granddaughter) are pulling their lives together and continuing on with running the taco shop.
Everyone is still a little shook up, but Elsa must be smiling down proudly as her family draws off her strength and carries on! Please stop in and
have some really good, simple food prepared by a great Baja family. Tell them Roberto and Beatriz said “Hola!” and I’d try the Caracol burrito if I
was you!

It's encouraging to see that they are keeping going. I'll take you up on the advice of stopping in. But you're going to have to 'splain the burrito.
Is it really snail? Or just Mayan style something else?

it's better than you think.... texture is similar to cooked clam..... kinda like a chorizo the way that they cook it down. simple food at simple
prices.
and if anyone is going that way in the next month, we have a small package (restraunt items and fotos) for delivery.

Actually, I've eaten some very unusual delicacies around the world, and that includes snail chorizo. Nevertheless, might you offer an alternate
recommendation?

that is wonderful news, thanks for posting it...these folks deserve our support after their tragedy.
It is now caracol (sea snail) season and I can assure you, it is a delicacy..not unlike abalone. I prefer it to abalone and it is terrific in
burritos...I also make a mean snail burger! So dont be afraid to try some thing with caracol in it...you might see it in burritos, tamales,
empanadas, sopes and caracol ranchero or stew. Be bold Nomads...go for it!

since i resurrected this thread i thought i might finish it.
it turns out Santo has a new wife and is fishing for a living out at Spot X. Marina has taken Ingrid to Tecate to be with her boyfriend. the taco
stand has changed hands. the family is in disarray, and all because of a senseless tragedy....
RIP Elsa, La Paloma de San Jose.
