Canadian Captain needs a home.
I received the following email from my friend Virginia who lives in Bahia. They are moving to the Mainland soon and need to find a home for a local
dog that they've sheltered.
"I want to let you know of a wonderful older purebred labrador that is in desperate need of a forever home. Captain was abandoned by his Canadian dad
who has a place at gecko camp. Captain would come down in a nice motorhome every year then for some reason his owner never made it back to Bahia
(word is that he is somewhere in Canada or TJ) Captain is about 8-9 years and has the best disposition of any dog I have ever cared for. Very mellow,
knows commands, likes other dogs, cats, kids, loves to retrieve but not crazily like a puppy. He loves walking by your side and just hangin' out.
He does very well in the house as well as outside alone, kicking back in the sun. I need to find him a home before we head north mid June. If you know
anyone who would like to adopt a wonderful mellow white lab please forward his photos. We can bring Captain to San Diego late May or mid June."

What a wonderful creature. I almost feel guilty for posting here because I'm not in a position to rescue him. But I encourage folks to do so if they
can.

Oh man....he looks like such a good dog! I also wish I could take him...but we are already overcrowded with two big dogs and two cats. I sure hope
someone has a place for him!

He reminds me so much of our Dakota. Labs are great Baja dogs as they love the water, people and make great and very loyal companions.
I really hope somebody can take him in...

I forgot to add Virginia's email address for those interested in giving Captain's story a happy ending. He's a cool dog, I met him over the Spring
Break.

I have a friend who lives in San Antonio Del Mar (near Colonet) who may be interested. I've sent an email and will let you know.
Do you have any information on whether Capitan is current on his shots???
Thanks,
Linda

much.

Dakota is an anomaly of sorts as she was never supposed to make it past six months. When we got her at 9 weeks we had her checked out by the vet to
make sure there was no sign of rear hip dysplasia. She was cleared but at 6 months she went lame. She developed front elbow dysplasia - extremely
rare. It took me a week to find an animal hospital even willing to attempt the surgery to help her and we lucked out that it was a success, although
she remained there in therapy for six weeks following.
Today she is almost thirteen years old, weighs 90 pounds and is stands taller over most labs you would ever see. Has been the greatest dog I have ever
been blessed with...

This is a really great dog - if we hadn't recently adopted a doberman to accompany Dakota we would take him.
In my book there is no better breed than a Lab for somebody who loves to come to Baja. (Sorry Diane)
But I am biased...

If you have a Lab and are near the water you will quickly discover that they are in the water all day. Just keep a hose with a shower nozzle nearby to
wash off the salt when day is done.
Looks like Captain just came out of the water in these photos...

We are going to visit him if he is still in BOLA at the end of this month and if we bond may be able to take him. We want to make sure he would be
happy with us, and that he will be good with our cat. He looks just like our dog Moco who passed away several years ago. See BajaGringo we do have
something in common, we like the same kind of dogs (haha inside joke). Connie
