078.....State Tourist Assistance Hotline

What is it?
It is a line that provides information, orientation, counsel, support and follow up to attend any situation the tourist visiting Baja California may demand, it operates 7 days a Week, from 08:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday, from 09:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturdays and Sundays, except Mexicali that closes on Sundays. The access is through a conventional or public telephone with statewide coverage and soon to be accessed from cell phones.

How it works?
It is a call operation center, attended by bilingual personnel, highly qualified and service oriented that bases its performance in the use of the highest communications technology.

It is comprised by 12 call assistance protocols and 5 protocols for emergencies. This guarantees an effective coordination with the 066 center of command (the equivalent of 911 in the U.S), with statewide coverage, to attend emergencies.

I was going to describe it myself, but I believe is better explain here (copied from http://www.discoverbajacalifornia.com/078.htm)

It is important to mention that this number ONLY WORKS WITHIN BAJA CALIFORNIA NORTE.

Location....

The location of the offices that answer those calls are in Baja Norte, and therefore the coordination of the different goverment agencies that may be needed in case of help are local.

I believe this is a pilot program, if it works here it will be reproduce in other states of Mexico.
