new Baja living-retirement guide website!

Theres a great new website on living and or retiring in the northern pacific Baja, concentrating mostly on Rosarito on down with alot of emphasis on the Ensenada areas.

its pretty informative with alot of links to useful information for people that are still undecided about moving here, with alot of personal experience stories of how people got to be down here, and how to cope with their new lifestyles, but it also has alot of information for the seasoned Baja-er.

The website is http://www.live-retire-baja.com.

And, strangely enough, the U Tube video is about AJIJÍC, near Guadalajara.

The AARP Online Bulletin that was emailed today touts Mexico as the no.1 best place for retirement. No mention of cartel violence. It was written by Sid Krausheimer (sp?), who is also a regular contributor to Fox Noise.

I read it and I'm stifling my criticism. I was just wondering what, specifically, you were refering to.
For one thing, the author didn't mention the local fashion trend of Kevlar even once.

Here's the link. The links in the article are interesting, too, especially the Global Retirement Index.

At the beginning of the web sight the author says "I pay no taxes anymore". If they are US citizens don't they still have to pay taxes? And are there no Mexican taxes on income?

In the first paragraph the author says he/she lives on $500/month in Punta Banda. A few paragraphs down, he/she says she pays $250/mo for a land lease.

Seems to be a major credibility problem.

From the AARP Bulletin:

However, U.S. citizens living abroad are subject to the same IRS tax filing requirements as those living here, and no matter where they live, their worldwide income is generally subject to U.S. income taxes.

For sure WTF. Tell this to the extended family, men, women and children who were executed in El Sauzal a while back. All cartel related.
Aside from that, I have/had three friends who were murdered in seperate instances. Robbery, probably.
A Chamber Of Commerce slanted website for information is tolerable but, this type of lie is dangerous and should be exposed.

Dennis, you are so right. I could almost swallow the bit about how secure one's hold on the land is when you have a lease, but burying one's head in the sand about the violence around us is way over the top. Fortunately, it flies in the face of tons of publicity to the contrary, so no one will swallow that.

To make it even more ludicrous, the author of the site is leasing on Ejido land. I hope she keeps her bags packed.

I correct myself. The author has been identified and does not live on Ejido land but, in Toscano's La Bufadora Beach Camp. The fotos leading one to believe it is her house, are in fact not. The fotos are taken from a residence on Ejido land to the south of La Bufadora.
