great story and confession, Grover!

i did something very similar in 1980 on a cross country to Kansas from Phoenix. Called an approach in to Hooker OK and to my horror saw written on a town water tower that i was on short final to Guymon OK 10 miles away!! and i just went ahead and landed and sheepishly asked where to taxi for fuel? they didn't say a word.
1 hour later i was at my final destination in Hoxie KA parked and chugging some cheap dago red to calm my nerves!
that was in the days of lousy rental planes, crummy radios no GPS etc. Thought i was a REAL pioneer then, Ha!

you should post that story on baja net for a good laugh there too.

thx for it.
