This 4th of July I'm going to the fridge and pull out a beer, start the BBQ, and go sit in my Baja plant garden and make believe I'm down there..........

IF I don't go I will scream (and do as Mexitron does)... It's "L.A. Bay or Bust!" for me and my kids (who both actually want to go, without bribing)!

Actually Jim, if you go to the gulf side it isn't too bad... Most think it is TOO hot in July!

What about your trek to Malarrimo? If I had a better business year I would join you. Perhaps next year, or the end of summer when the Pacific side is finally sunny?!

I don't know Jim. You did an outstanding job leading us out of Matomi Canyon back in February, an excellent job. Didn't he David?

Thought we'd be heading for Bahia, but have settled for Mammoth as have family that wants to visit. Think I'll grab a good campsite before the crowds come, then we'll hang out between the campsite and our house. Of course, will watch our hokey parade and fireworks over Crowley Lake.

So I'll spend at least a little time thinking about Baja, as I slug back a cold Pacifico. Have a great time everyone, wherever you spend it. And wave old glory proudly.

YES INDEED, I welcome the opportunity to follow Jim!

For Nomads who couldn't be with us last President's Day Weekend, that is Surfer Jim on the bridge that once connected Shell Island to the rest of Baja! Now, only low tide or in the water access! http://vivabaja.com/204

FROM ARIZONA? Please tell us the story?
Because it is seperated from the mainland at extreme high tide, I have always refered to it as a barrier island... with tons of shells, thus 'Shell Island' .

Bob and Pat Hale (who I met a few years later) on the 'island' told me they called it Shell Beach, as you do. Since Bob is crazy (driving that huge motorhome onto the bottomless sand beach), I respected his choice of names, ha! I think 'Island' is more romantic sounding and there already is another Shell Beach in Baja (Punta Chivato), so I stick with Shell Island... So Chris, what's your holiday plans?

So that's the guy that made me look so bad!

I went there with my family once and forgot to air down before hitting the sand. As I realized the wheels were spinning, I started looking for a spot with good enough traction to stop so I could air down...

Too late! Buried up to the steprails (when I still had those useless things!) As we are all digging, airing down, and placing our firewood under the tires my daughter then points out, "Hey Dad, if you're stuck in your 4-Wheel Drive SUV, how did that guy get his big ol' Motor Home out here?":o:o

I'll be working this weekend as well. But, I hope to get down for a few days in August...maybe Bahia Asuncion/Tortugas area.

I'll be heading down for 10 days in October for my wedding in Elias Calles.

Hope everyone has a safe trip this weekend.
