Ramon the bartender in La Salina

Ramon, bartender of 32 years at the La Salina Cantina, passed away on Thursday after fighting throat cancer for several years. He was loved by many people and will be dearly missed by all those that knew him. There will be a memorial at the cantina Saturday Oct 17th. No fancy drinks will be served.

Thanks Dennis for remembering...Knew Ramon as a friend from the first day he showed up for work...even longer if you count the time he spent as a State Cop...just far to nice a guy for that job.

I'll try my damnest to make it.

Saludos mi Amigo You are already missed.

When I go to Baja the La Salina Cantina is usually my first stop. I'm going to miss walking into the cantina to be greeted by Ramon's smile and a smart ass comment, not necessarily in that order. It was that point that I would have an overwhelming sense of relaxation. The troubles of America were gone, I was in Baja among friends. I still go to the cantina and enjoy it but it will never be the same without El Jefe. It was a moment in time that Ramon and his many friends were lucky to have enjoyed. RIP my friend.
