Shooting in the streets in Tijuana this morning
About 9:15 this morning I was in the morning commute flying down the road that parallels the border fence. The heavy rush of cars did not seem to
bother the two junkies sitting against the grimy building on a corner facing the oncoming traffic just a few feet away. One had his arm stretched out
on his knee with the hypo in the other hand.
The scene seemed to freeze before my eyes because I so clearly saw the needle.
Down & strung out in Tijuana.....

Baja is becoming an end user
Jeans,
I have been reading your posts, with adimiration, for quite some time now.
The sad fact is that Baja, Mexico, is becoming an end user country because of the crack (sorry, that sounds like a bad pun) down on the border.
With the draconian U.S. border blocks, the flow pools in TJ and is laid off on the growing middle class.
USA'ns, reading this, might shrug it off.
Please don't.
These are the people working to make TJ a destination for things other than illicit pleasures, who get sucked in because life is hard.
If they fall victim, their children will, etc., etc. and guess what happens and spreads up through the border to you and yours.
Sorry for the rant, but it is heartfelt.

We travel that stretch of road frequently. We have witnessed similar situations.
We ALWAYS get in the right lane while going thur that area in either direction ASAP.
Last year I was driving along and a young man crossed the northbound lane just ahead of traffic and went to hop up on the divider and stumbled and
fell into the southbound traffic lane right in front of me, fortunately for him and me, I was able to swerve into the next lane and miss him.
Stay alert!!!

Driving the same stretch of road last Friday. Came up to an accident on the steepest part of the grade. A car coming down the hill on the other side
had jumped the center divider, hit the embankment on the other side, and came to rest in the far right (opposite) lane. A large crowd had gathered
around and cars heading west were squeezing around in the left lane. The car was on fire and both occupants in the front seat were still inside,
slumped over, and had now become part of the fire. Talk about your bad smells, and images that stick in your mind. I have seen dead bodies on the
road before, but this one is right up there with the family with four children in the overturned van on I-15. Drive safely everbody.

guess I'll use Juarez instead of Internacional to go to Playas on Sunday. Is the road still being resurfaced?
