FMT Ensenada
Is it still possible to get an FMT down by the boat docks in Ensenada? Fine? amount?

Hola! We did the trip last year and got our FMT at the port in Ensenada in December. Can't recall how much we paid, but there was a "surcharge" and
they gave us a real hard time about it. Luckily it wasn't busy, but we had to wait for the bank teller to get back from his break.

Mexico changed its regulations on FMT's. As of January 1, 2008, American and Canadian Citizens must apply for their FMT at the port of entry into
Mexico. You can read it here on the Mexican Consulate website.

Yes- definitely.. however last year I made the mistake of crossing during Friday evening rush hour and there was an accident and huge jam - no way to
get over to the right to the secondary parking. Won't make that mistake again!

That grumpy little bureaucrat has been there for years. For a brief while- mid 90's- they were checking FMT's at Mandenero and he was working there
also.

Is it just me? Or does this appear to imply that there is no border zone freebie; that anyone entering must get the FM-T. Further on this, assuming I
am still free to spend the weekend in Ensenada without needing FM-T. What if plans change and I either have to spend much more time there or need to
head South of Maneadero? I have to pay a fine because of that?
