Agree with the Dos Equis XX taste appeal, very easy drinking (the special lager, not the dark amber). I do like Pacifico when a slightly stronger
taste is desired.
How does your Aleman taste buds rate Pacifico?

Germanicus--I think you are referring to mainstream American beer--I agree--bad!
However, there are hundreds of smaller breweries in the U.S. which stay true to the original recipe....an example is Mendocino Brewing
Company.....great beer---here's the descriptions of their beers:

I never had the chance to try Pacifico.
But out of your comment, David, I am guessing that you too are a beer- connesseur.
Real beer must be somehow strong tasting, lill bitter (for sure not sweet > than I can drink soda) what I said, somehow a lill stinky smelling.
Then the taste is just right.
But I'm looking foreward to taste all of those Maxican brands.
With Corona i.e. that taste really chemical.
Well, I don't like to swollow too much chemicals (maybe someday my 'little head' is falling off?)

You are correct about the Germans and their seriousness about beer. Give me a glass of ice cold Erdinger or Paulaner hefe wei?bier and I'll be a very
happy camper. Even a nice thin glass of K?lsh would be ok too!!
For those who do not know, the Germans have a special glass for different types of brews. That's serious stuff!

somewhere....think I'll suck down a couple of Pacificos....bring on the limons......expensive, $8.00 for a sixer,

O.K., this is my offer to all of you nice beer-drinking-guys:
I am preparing a 6 month trip to the Baja.
Entering @ Tecate and driving all the way down towards Cabo.
The trip shall learn me whatever possible about the Baja and we (my squaw and me) are looking for a place we can buy to construct and later run a
First Class RV-Park.
On the way southwards I am offering you to meet me and in exchange for some good German Beer > you might name the brand if you wish < y'all give the
the best info and answer my questions to the best of your knowledge.
I just need to know where you are living and where I can meet you and the deal is settled.
And "yes" we Germans do not drink out of the bottle (that's what we did when we were about 1 year old - but since then > nomore) as it is somehow
'uncivilized' and does not give us the smelly taste of the beer.
So, whoever wants to taste good German Beer in exchange for serious info about Baja and all related questions, please send me a u2u.(guess it is not
appropriate to continue here in this forum with private stuff and exchange addresses in public)
Folks don't you worry, I can haul a lot bottles an kegs and sixers.

A special bet to Bob H.
Bob, you mentioned 'Erdinger' Beer.
I would like to make a bet with you.
I do have Erdinger (Weisse, Hefeweizen or Pils)
And I do have an original glass from the Erdinger Brewery in Germany.
Now my bet:
I do fill that Erdinger glass with any Erdinger beer you want.
I bet to pay for 3 days all expanses in a restaurant for a nice dinner in the evening for you and your squaw(if available),
that you do not empty said original German glass from Erdinger in one attempt and less than 10 sec.
What do you bet against this?

Germanicus, I would like to meet you and could do it with Bob H as he lives closer to the border in north San Diego, while I am 30 miles north of him
in Oceanside. Perhaps give you an early sample of Pacifico which is widely sold here in So. California. Although beer bought in Mexico seems to always
be a bit better tasting than imported.
Tecate, for example, is much better tasting in Mexico than Tecate sold in California (which I barely can stand, weird isn't it?). Pacifico here tastes
about the same as Pacifico there, however. As does Dos Equis... yum!
When will you be near San Diego (if you want to cross at Tecate, we will have to drive east to see you near there... perhaps at Potrero Campground,
near Campo?)?
Bob, sound like a plan? I wonder if Germanicus smokes cigars? (caugh,caugh)

I am IN on this for sure. Audrey can bring some fresh German beer home from her many trips there. And, then, we can compare with Pacifico - I mean,
I like Pacifico, but when it comes to German Beer (not the imported stuff, but the real stuff from Germany) I must favor that over Pacifico. But, it
would be fun anyway. I have several 1 litre beer glasses.... Bring it on!

I too prefer the Dos XX green bottle now to the other pilsners in Mexico. The Bohemia however is still a great full bodied beer, more German like.
Pilsner Erquell still rules the pilsners though.

well, I don't wanna fool you too much.
This glass is 3(three) liters,,,, and 'yes' Germanicus smokes cigars > sometimes (espacially after the 22 glass of beer.)
So there will be a meeting - as I know - with David K and Bob H.

Germanicus, a three litre glass? WOW. I don't think I could finish even one litre in 10 seconds. Anyway, I'd rather sip and enjoy the beer anywho.

I did enjoy the new Mexicali Beer... and am happy to know it comes from Tecate (the water in Mexicali's Rio Nuevo is muy malo)!

Hi Jesse,
that beer > Casta, you are introducing in your post sounds to me to be a VERY good one.
(I do like the Baja already although I never was there, because they do have gooood beer down there. And beer is a part of life, not only lifestyle)
I am eager to try it.
It is brewed according to the purity law in Germany.
From Barley,Hops,Water, Yeast (and maybe Malt), nothing else.
SO? Jesse, where are you living?
Why don't you join in on that beer-testing-meeting in September in San Diego?
I do have enough 'steins' that everyvbody who joins in can enjoy his beer out of a cooled stein with lid.
(the lid is there that no sparrow can chit in the beer)
By the way guys, I lived in LaJolla for some time and know San Diege quite well.
(And met a bandido grande who swindeld me out of a lot of money > car business, but that's some time ago)

I lived in LaJolla about 12 years ago.
I bought Exotics like Ferrari and Jaguars etc.
There was a guy named Mike Caldwell & son (don't know his name anymore)
I bought i.e. four Jaguar from Caldwell and paid him to restore the cars.
(XK140DHC; MarkTwo3.8; XK150Coupe; XKE3.8)
I paid him a lot of money and he did just nothing on the cars.
When they arrived in Germany, there were a lot of misssing parts etc.)
Bad, bad experiance!!)

I do like some Mexican beers very much.
I never found any American made beer which I can consider of beeing beer.
