American expat car jacked in Rosarito
Does anyone know BJ she's a great gal who lives in Rosarito. I was told she was recently carjacked in front of the mail room in front of Renes trailer
park where many Americans who live in Rosarito get their mail.
Who ever commited the crime took her new SUV.
Anyone have anymore info on this crime?

Was she actually carjacked by force or was her SUV taken while it was parked there? No, I don't know of her either- by that name anyway.
I went to the crazy Maggie site and she had a little more info. The lady was inside the mail room with others present when the the armed carjacking
occurred. (I thought you had to be sitting in your car for it to be a carjacking). The rest of her posting is pure psycho-babble.
The only thing I am curious about : Are these blogs censored by Mexico? She mentions she has to type the story quick before "they" take it down on
her. ???

Bj's a great gal I think I already said that...
She Lives at Renes Trailier park.
The Renes mail room is right next to the boulevard so I'm assuming it was a crime of opportunity. I hope BJ's OK shes been in Rosarito for over ten
years and is an integral part of our ex-patriot community.
Oh by the way wheres Ron and his big press release?
Things that make you go hmmmmm.....

"... BJ Carpenter was carjacked by gunpoint monday afternoon at the mailroom at
Rene's. It was 2:30 pm and there were people in the mailroom. For your safety
please make yourself aware of your surroundings before parking and getting out
of your car. I care for all of you and your safety.

I talked to BJ Saturday and she said they had not recovered her truck yet. The
thieves obtained her purse and credit cards as well.

She took it off the Punta Banda Message Board who is not among her fan base. Maggie linked to it and was thinking they may take it down so she wrote
it out just in case.

Cars credit card material things can all be replaced. Thank God BJ is OK.
Ever since Rene shut down the bar and cut back on Security there has been a rash of break in's at his trailer park. He could care less. He's more
interested in fleacing the dying off herd of American Alcoholics that frequent his shut down dive.
His father would be rolling over in his grave if he could see the way his spoiled brat son and Grandson have mismanaged one of Rosarito's great
landmarks into the ground.
What a shame.
RIP Rene Sr.

From another site
Subject: Armed Highjacking in Rosarito
Date: Friday, 22 January 2010
From: Herman Stiphout
Hi,
"Many of you have already heard what happened to me during lunchtime today.
For those not yet in the know, herewith a short recap:
Marijke and I went into town for our Spanish lesson, which
is held at Las Mañanitas restaurant at 12:00 Noon. I drove
into the parking lot and let Marijke get out so that she did
not have to walk through the mud.
As I locked the car, two guys in an old Toyota drove up and
blocked my way. One got out and started shouting at me that he wanted my keys.
I did not immediately get what he meant but that changed in
a flash when he pulled out a gun and pushed it into my stomach.
I handed over my keys, and then he shouted that he wanted
my wallet. He got more and more agitated, especially when I
told him that I do not carry a wallet.
I told him to search me if he did not believe me, which he
did, and emptied my pockets.
He then got into our car and both drove off at high speed.
The whole thing was over in less that a minute, at least
that is the feeling that I had.
There were some people at the other side of the street who
witnessed what happened, but they just stood and watched.
Apart from the car and what was in it, they got away with
about 1,500.00 Pesos and $25 US, as well as my driver's
license.
The restaurant people were very good in calling the police,
who arrived in about 10 minutes. They were very friendly and
efficient; they took us to the police station for a statement, then drove us home to get some papers.
Subsequently we went to the DA's office to make another statement and then they drove us home again,
after explaining in detail what the next steps were. Both spoke English fluently, so communication was not a problem.
I do not have everyone's e-mail address, so please feel
free to forward to other friends on our behalf; I am not
really in a state of mind at the moment to try and find everyone's address.
I also want to thank everybody who has already offered help
with transport and other things. I think that we will
probably need some of that in the next few days and will
contact you then.
Also, a big thank you for the calls of support that we have
had; this is appreciated very much and shows the spirit of
the community.
Regards,
Herman & Marijke"

gosh darnM....Sounds like people are going to have to go to town in a caravan.
Torres must have an explaination for the anomaly of behavior.
"Don't let this overreaction stop you tourists from coming down to Rob-Me-Arito. It's the press that's the problem. You'll love it here."
What a snakepit. This isn't even cartel stuff. It's just garbage people doing what they know they can get away with because nobody is allowed to
defend themselves. Defending yourself is against the law. Volunteering to live in this atmosphere should be against the law as well.

When someone stole my truck in Rosarito Beach with my Nextel phone in it a couple years back, I called my phone and told them I could cut off the
engine by cell phone because it was an electric hybrid. I gave them fifteen minutes to bring it back or I would call the police and stall the truck
where it was. It came back and I didn't have to deal with the police. They never bothered me again.

Why the Gun?
Just wondering, because in my own little world I haven't heard much about armed carjackings down here in Rosarito.
So, is this thug that committed this atrocity a displaced cholo from Riverside sitting in Rene's parking lot, waiting to bring home a big prize in
order to get in good with his new crew in the Rosarito hood?

The gun is excessive. Why would they risk near certain jail time? The local troublemakers usually just show knives and their butt-ugly faces to take
what they want. No match for a retired couple not expecting a confrontation in the center of Rosarito at noon- without a gun.

Well, shame on that thug. He most certainly is due for a refresher course in hijacking etiquette.
Rosarito is relatively lawless. You really think these guys worry about getting caught?

Im staying away from Rosarito for a while. Furthermore any Americans considering comming down for Presidents day or Spring break should thinkabout it
twice. Rosarito has become a lawless place and Americans just are not safe.
I cant wait to see what the real estate spinning Mayor is going to say about this.
I'm sure he will start off with a sack of lies regarding his car being broken into at fashion valley like he did at that laison meeting in Chula Vista
a few months ago.
Time for Mr. Raposa to fire up the old spin machine again.
These are truly desprate times here in the Plaza.

If they want to steal a new car they have to carjack them now, instead of breaking the ignition key with a screwdriver, like they do on the older
cars. That's because the new cars won't start without the key, which has a coded rf chip in it so the computer will unlock the ignition.

I'm wondering if these scumbag A-Holes are people that have been deported back to Mexico from the USA and either refuse to get a job or find it easier
to terrorize people for money? Have any been caught yet? I can only hope they meet a fate worse than death soon!

Nope- The local tweekers are whacked out of their minds when they do crap like this. Way more crystal here now than in San Diego in the 80's. So
more petty crimes like this happening around town.
The Rosarito locals accept it as returning to a normal level of crime. There are no extra heads laying around, no hanging bodies and no lethal police
ambushes since Teo was captured. Yet.
