Unusual bird sighting for Baja Concepcion (with pix)-


This guy has hung around at Posada now for two weeks. My book says this Hooded Laughing Gull is lost (only one here) yet someone else here has a book that says this is their stomping ground. In ten years this is the only one we have seen





Things are expensive, but at least we get a free trip around the sun once a year

Sibley's Guide to Birds, page 211, says that's a Laughing Gull in Adult Breeding Plumage which is worn from March to September. They are common on the North Pacific coast of Baja in winter and in the Sea of Cortez in summer.
