Yes, Udo is still on line...but I have nothing to do with satellites, Woody.

Hi Woody,

Yes, still here, but I've been far too busy up north to post much here lately.

You need to bring your Hopper. The Joeys won't work without the Hopper. B de LA has fairly decent signal reception for Dish Network's three main Western satellite. Locals are in a better position to confirm or deny:

110° (network channels & PPV) - 1.0 meter dish recommended
119° (bulk of cable channels) - Standard 50 cm dish such as Dish 1000.2. The Hopper will need this satellite to download the programming guide for the DVR.
129° (Lots of HD versions of 119's channels) - 70 cm dish recommended

The standard Dish 1000.2 dish, designed to pick up all three satellites should at least get you some basic reception from the 119°, although the Hopper will complain if the signal is weak from the 110° and 129° satellites.

You'll probably need to run the Switch Check function in the Installation menu so the receiver will know what it's connected to outside and configure itself accordingly.

Maybe someone from BoLA can help you set it up. Have you ever aimed a dish before? Jose in Loreto may be able to come up but it's a ways and you'd need to cover is travel time and expenses.

Alan

Can you give me the same satellite reccomendations for Los Barriles/La Ribera?

Are people receiving these signals with a single dish with multiple LNBs or are they using multiple single LNB units?

Thanks

Los Barriles/La Ribera get two of the three sats, the 119°, with a 5' dish recommended, and the 129° with a 4' dish recommended. The 110° satellite is not available there.

There is also another satellite, the 77°, that gets about 80 Dish Channels in standard def using a single, small 50 cm dish, along with the "Big Five" network channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and PBS) in HD from the midwest. Requires a standard HD receiver with a new account and qualifying address.

The Hopper won't work with that small-dish system without the 119°.

HD channels

alan-- I guess it's a good time for a question. I have the two large dishes and the small dish for hopper/joey use. when they were installed in La Paz about 18 months ago I got most if not all of the HD channels including ESPN HD and all the Sirius channels. about 6 months or so the HD channel for ESPN stopped receiving and automatically switched to the analog channel 140. Also, many of the Sirius channels (Bridge,Pulse, Blend etc.) flash the message for no signal. I got them all before, so something changed- do you have any suggestions? Thanks-- Norm

P.S.-- I got all the receivers from you and had your installer from Todos Santos do the install. N

Thank you.

I have an existing Dish account from Utah. I assume that won't get me any locals. My plan was to bring down a 211z receiver mated to my account and then figure out sat dishes from there. Will just the 77 sat work with a 211z? I don't need lots of channels at this point in the game
