Update: 2010 Tijuana International Beer Festival

It might be time to tear down those posters advertising the sixth annual TJ International Beer Festival for Aug. 13-14. There's rumbling that the party on downtown's Avenida Revolucion will be moved to Sept. 17-18, to avoid a potential conflict with a certain beer bash slated for Aug. 21.

That's the (firm) date of Stone Brewing's 14th anniversary party. The Escondido brewery has been a guest at the Tijuana fest every year, but would be unable to attend if the latter occurs before Aug. 21. The folks at Cerveza Tijuana, organizers of the Mexican fest, have offered to shift this event to September to keep Stone in the mix.

Alert readers may remember that Tijuana's party was originally planned for July. Despite the confusion, this remains the best place to assess Mexico's fledgling microbrewery movement.

We'll continue to monitor the date. See you there in September -- we hope!
