5th Annual BajaNomad Dia de Reyes Toy Drive

Once again it's time for the Annual BajaNomad Dia de Reyes Toy Drive, on it's 5th year now and all thanks to the generous support of so many of you.

Please forgive the late announcement, but as most of you are aware I have been involved with the Corona Plaza Hotels, both in Tijuana and Rosarito, but we still have enough time to do this. Because of the time factor and in talking to Mr. Baja Nomad (Doug) we have decided to have this event on January 16th, Sunday, and it will be in either Tijuana or Rosarito, depending on the amount of transportation that I can get for the children involved. As in previous years, Mexicoach has agreed to transport all the toys on the tour bus so we just need to see how many kids and from what areas they will be needing transportation.

We have 2 drop off locations for gifts this year, the good people from Jackson Hewitt again have agreed to allow us to receive gifts at their Chula Vista location.

Miss Nidia Puerto is our main contact person.
JACKSON HEWITT
1655 Broadway,
Suite 10
Chula Vista, CA 91911
Phone number (619) 426-6516

The second location is with our friends at BajaBound Insurance

Toy Drive c/o Baja Bound Insurance Services, Inc.
750 11th Avenue #101
San Diego, CA 92101
Phone (619) 702-4292

As for the kids, we have over 300 of them ranging in ages from 3 to 15 so we need at least that number of new toys to give away and as always they will have the traditional Rosca de Reyes, tamales, frijolitos and hot chocolate.

I will have more details soon and if there are any questions, my email is fernando@ultimatebaja.com or you can always U2U me.

Gracias,
Fernando Garcia y familia

This has been an incredible event for me. I attended 2 years ago by myself, and last year brought my daughter. This year I hope to bring some additonal people.

I have been very impressed with the generosity of all of you who have contributed, as well as all the work Fernando and his family do to make this event take place - THANK YOU!

I have met several great Nomad's, and being there in person to see and feel the kids appreciation is a special treat for me. I have found it to be a safe event, so if you are considering joining us you will have a great time.

This year has been difficult for most of us financially, but please do support the kids if you are able to do so.

Happy Holidays!

that was such a wonderful video !! Baja Cat is always giving !! It is a good idea to buy toys after the holidays too - amazing sales make it more viable. I didn't realize it but perhaps more gifts are given on dia de reyes than at xmas itself here in Mexico?

That was exactly why we decided (Doug and myself back in 2006) to have a Dia de Reyes toy drive, so people could take advantege noty only of the after xmas sales but also could have an opportunity to donate toys or gifts that were received during xmas but not necesarily what was desired by the recepient.
Yes, Dia de Reyes is the time when children in México receive presents.

Thank you so much, I know it will be a very successful toy drive as it has been for the last four years.
