A question for David K regarding the old Baja road

Hello DK. Do you know of a map that shows the pre-Transpeninsular route? If you do, could you please post it? There was a post over at Fred's about it, and it made me curious. I would especially like to see a map showing both routes (maybe each route shown in two different colors) if such a thing exists.

Yah it exits alright, here at my house! I will try and scan something for you and put it on my notebook. I just put the article on the old road's location back to the top and I will copy it over to Fred's bbs.

1975 Maps

Okay Packoderm (and other Baja fans), I scanned the three sectional maps from the 1975 Baja California Guidebook which replaced the Lower California Guidebook to include the new highway. The paved roads are in red. These maps don't have the close scale to show the old and new seperately where they were within a couple miles of each other. However, it does accurately show the seperate routes where they are far apart in central Baja (Nuevo Rosarito to Insurgentes).

I put the maps on a new second page in my Notebook (link at bottom of my posts)... I will sketch in the new highway onto the old LCG maps in the areas where the two are closer together, and post them later for you guys...
