When will we be able to post photos again?

When the administrator has the time to fix the problem, or try an upgrade to a newer version of the software.

I've figured out what the problem is, but not what is causing it to happen.... which may take some time to do, and I've been very time-challenged as of late.

As has been pointed out, the hotlinking feature remains an option (just like the avatars work).... example:

I would suggest getting a free webpage (like yahoo/geocities) and setup a photo alblum there for now.

I think the number of photos posted

per person should be limited to, say 4 per month. My friend JR has posted just incredible numbers of photos, high quality I must say but using a lot of space in the system, no expert, but I think that may help!

Everyone's entitled

to their own opinions. Which is why I go to those that know of what they speak for answers!
And so as not to be rude to my friend Tucker, before boring yall wid a whole passle o fotos, I talked to Doug and it's all about size, not so much quantity.
But, I don't think photos are going to be happening on here for a while so if any of you new folks want to see some of the ungringoized Baja, go to http://groups.msn.com/TheBajasBestGuidesPhotoAlbum.
No politics or soap opera bs. Just pictures and stories of Baja! with a few personal messages thrown in. Ignore them if they bother you! :light:

Try removing the period (.) after albums

It might show up as a clickable link.

JR

That's your webpage

Load a picture to your webpage and hotlink to your post. The picture will show with your post w/o a link.

No extra space charged to Doug and the picture is posted.

Just don't use anothers web page as your source page and you'll be politically correct. Maybe for the first time?:lol:

Later you can take the picture down and the bandwith will be restored.

Not to ignore you my friend, but if you got the low down, please show us by posting (hot linking) a photo.

In my civilian terminology... the two ways to make a photo appear on the message board (here) were:

1) to click on 'brouse' (below where one types your message)... and that searches YOUR computers files where you pick a photo from. The concern was FILE SIZE of said photo... Doug asked that we reduce the file size to 50 kbs or less (not the easiest for some to do, but a lot was posted about how). THIS FEATURE IS NOT WORKING NOW!

2) 'HOTLINKING' as I have been doing from my web site and others (that gave me permission, as 'Bob and Susan' noted)

To hotlink, a photo needs to be on a web page on the Internet (vivabaja.com for example). Go to that photo, use your mouse and right click on that photo. Copy the photo url given in that pop up. Now, go to a new post window here on Nomad. Click on the 7th small box above the message window (looks like a landscape picture with a tiny black arrow on the corner of it). A window pops up where you take your mouse and paste the url into it. Follow instructions and the url will appear in the message window where you can add text.

How about a photo of Bob H and his esposa in back of my truck, on Shell Island?>>>

Or, memorize and type in the source code which appears ahead of, and behind, your pasted URL. Thanks DK

Photo Album/web page

Bob H, I made a photo album on AOL and then posted the link, the only problem was that you had to be an aol member to view it. I noticed that soemone had posted a link that I could view pictures from their album, so I went there. It is webshots.com You make an album with the pictures you choose and they store it on a web page and then you post the link and everyone can view it. Very easy with simple directions yet I have not figured out yet how to do it (I think it has something to do with aol bs) but that is how I how I am currently trying to post pictures. :D

I use MSN and it cost's 19.99 a year for 30 mb of storage. 3 mb is free and I had about 75 photos on there.
Now that I have semi learned about reducing the size of the files, I can put on a LOT of photos and the stories take up very little space.
But, I don't know if I can get photos from there to post here.
So, I have become used to going to everybodies pages to see their photos. It's cool.

JR, someone mentioned to me that when you go to your sight and you select a photo that you want to attach as a hotlink you just add .jpg at the end.
See if that will work.
