in photo bucket move your cursor over the photo you want - at the top of the drop down menu click edit > resize > in the first box next to "new size" type in 128 > Apply >save a copy > title it (something Avatar) > copy the direct link and paste it in the avatar box in edit profile.
Hope this works. As you hopefully can see I just did it and now I have a new avatar for awhile anyway.

I was going nuts also. Sign up with Photobucket and tinker with the image size. My avatar is size 8KB & 69X99. I may put in a slightly larger one soon. Once you get it down to size you can see it in your photobucked album website. A click on the image code is a copy, then paste it into the avatar box. All your previous posts will show the image.

I used to test images also. Way late at night on topics nobody reads, like restaurant reviews. If it doesn't work I delete immediately.

"Way late at night . . ." First experience for me with a social website. I considered the same. Avatar is next for me. Glad you're talking about it.

I have been tinkering. FLASH NEWS.... I forgot...Avatar requires pasting the DIRECT LINK image code. Not the code for posting images in regular posts. Try it.

Maybe Doug (BajaNomad) can help... ? I sent him a note.

The avatar must be a certain (tiny) size... So on photobucket, upload the photo at the REDUCED size for an avatar (and name that photo as such, because it will look like a normal size image in your album thumbnails).

Russ
The Fabonacci sequence or spiral (1.618...) is the math key to the golden ratio found in nature, as seen in sunflower seed patterns and nautilus shells etc. The Greeks worked it out and used it in their building design.

1. Use a direct image URL link.

2. Max pixel dimensions for the avatars right now is 130w X 150h. If it's larger in either dimension, the forum software will reject the avatar URL link - and thusly it will not "take".

Just trying a avatar

I\'ve been told I\'m preoccupied with Baja. They just don\"t understand, in fact neither do I.
