Addition coming along nicely

roberto and his brothers are getting our new walls up lickety split on our new addition at the Blowhole casa...it is so exciting and will be a great room to hang out in.

Anyone who has been to our house knows that we need a bigger house....man room for all Juan's fishing stuff, dive gear, radios, hip waders etc etc...I am soooooo looking forward to getting it out of the living room!

And we will have kind of a common room overlooking the blowhole with books, maps, photos and baja information...backgammon table....who knows???

and today was a historical day here as they started to lay the new water line out to our point!!! wahooo.
things have come a long way since I moved to our house...we had no water (carried jugs), no phone, only an outhouse, no reliable power or any indoor plumbing....those were the days....NOT!

Great News Shari!

Perhaps I can contribute to the Baja Map or Book collection?

It will be nice indeed...

The foundation rock work is beautiful!

It would be fun to see a photo of your place from when you first moved in to today's casa.

Shari, is this room connected to your existing house? I am trying to figure out where the addition is located. Is it extending from the side where the living room is? Looks great!

Yes Bob, it connects to our living room...a few steps down into the man room. The library will overlook the blowhole and YES YES YES David, I would love to add to the baja book n map collection.

Phase II will be the swanky suite/party room up top of the whole thing...poco a poco.

Paulina, I'll have to look for that photo of the house when it was just a box on a rock!

Shari.. Looks great..what a nice view!

Question... As the guys are building the block walls > Are they filling the blocks "cells" with concrete to add strength?

We decided to get our blocks in Vizcaino where there is an awesome block maker who's blocks are far superior to what we get here and cheaper. The blocks are 7.5 pesos a block....8 pesos delivered to Asuncion. We are not filling all the cells but some for added strength....and might add laja rock face on the front too...downside is, the addition blocks my view of moonset from my bed...dang.

Oh yes!
We got ours a year and a half ago. Cost of water 90% less for us. The water truck was killer.

And them long showers...o yea!

lime is super cheap....the coke bottle has a portion of the side cut out so you can load the lime into it...works great for marking out areas.

Actually that is high tech Shari - they used to just poke a hole in the bottom of the bag and try to walk a straight line...

Wow, wow, wow! Can't wait to spend some time there! Great construction. How are they dealing with the issue of potential tremalos?

That sure looks like a clean construction!! Quality, quality, quality.
