Bill, sorry about your trailer theft. Makes one really pi$$ed, I know. Boats and gear are such personal things and we all hate to lose them.
You did the right thing...rewards always help in Baja. I had a house burglar many years ago when was gone for a few days. He stole a bunch while
invading my domain. Ticked me off so much I offered a ten grand usd reward..recompensa..for the guy's capture and imprisonment. The police
nailed him within 10 days...he was trying to peddle my stuff in Loreto. Turned out to be a gringo career criminal from California. He lived to
regret his crime in Baja. Prison life in Baja is damn harsh... what it should be in the USA.
I'll keep my eyes and ears open for any word on your trailer in the Mulege area. Good luck.

Pompano may have hit the nail on the head. We have had a real rash of petty crime crap in the last two months in San Bruno and one of the guys got
really fed up and walked in with some cash to the local commandante at the police station. Within a day, they had a good lead and made two arrests.
Turns out the guy was working with 3 guys who live on San Marcos Island and they had managed to break into about 6 houses and the easiest picking was
the Gringo houses on the beach. Well, the money got the interest up and things came together really rapidly.
The other thing that you need to do is to talk to the Policia Minesterial. They are like the FBI and have much more power than the local policia.
They also scare the crap out of the local punks who usually do this kind of thing. I understand that their interrogation tactics are much stronger
than the local police and they usually get to the bottom of things very quickly.
Sure hope it turns up and we will keep a good lookout in our neck of the woods as well.

And you paid ten grand to the policia municipal in Mulege after this?

Sorry about your loss. Having lived in the winters in Loreto/Puerto Esc. & Nopolo for over twenty years, theft was a common occurance. Theft of
a boat trailer is quite brazen. Posting at the two nearest military stops is a great idea. And a sizeable reward for the return of the trailer even
without conviction would be good news. conviction would be the icing on the cake.
Hoping it turns up very soon

No. Every law enforcement official from TJ to Cabo was looking. The federal police, etc. The money went to the Municipality of Mulege authorities,
which covers a very large area....not just the village of Mulege..and to Loreto officials after the recovery of a very expensive movie camera and
arrest of the perp.
Note: Posting a reward paid only in Mulege would greatly narrow the field...much as the general reward offered by Bill can be earned peninsula-wide.

I was thinking about this....
I never would had considered someone stealing my trailer while I was out fishing. That would be pure hell to deal with.
Here's what I am bout to order in a few minutes. Just wanted to share this with others here that may not have thought of this lock.

Tire boot is a great idea, except when they remove the tire & wheel, and put your spare that was attached to the trailer on it.

I use a locking hitch pin and a padlock on the receiver/ball.
For even more security you can buy lockable ball guards.
Then you just have to make sure they can't take the truck ! 
I'm hoping you'll find it in one piece.

My trailer was insured against theft if attached to my truck, which mine was when it was stolen, by a policy I bought through Lewis and Lewis. An
adjuster was by this morning to commence action on my claim. As is the case with many, I have been buying insurance for years for various types of
coverage while rarely filing a claim. It will be interesting how L&L/Qualitas responds to this one, and I will report back here.

I drove the entire length of baja today and yesterday and kept my eyes peeled for your trailer...any aluminum trailer. i thought i saw it at CCD
attached to a white chevy...but it turned out to be steel
I hope the a-holes cut their weewee's off when they are cutting it up for meth money.
