Baja Bernie alive and well in Asuncion

It has been our distinct pleasure to share these last few days with Bernie & Jamie...it all began with an epic whale adventure...the most amazing encounter I have ever had EVER!!! Then back to BA where Bernie & Jamie have entertained the folks with great stories...and were welcomed to the family last night at Juan's birthday gathering. Jaime is an amazing fisherwoman...she outfished the guys...and Bernie is a quiet scholar and a gentleman. Here they are at sunset last night.

Shari,
We are still on target to be camped at the whale center campground Friday and Saturday nights. Should be there mid to late afternoon Friday. Hope to see you there, looking forward to camping under the full moon. We will be in the same red Explorer. Still plenty of whales?

And Shari - you better tell us about that whale experience - if it was the most amazing one of your whale-graced life, it must have been 'off the charts'! Did three whales leap over your panga, while mating?? Can't wait to hear about it.

Cap...I'm still so in awe of our experience, I really cant do it justice writing about it...plus I've been busy showing B&J around. On one of our town jaunts, we got whistled over by Chemo, the owner of the Marlapa palapa as it was his birthday so we had a cerveza and lamb tacos with the boys...here are the happy couple going native.

here is a teeny teaser of our whale encounter...5 whales all jockeyng for attention.

It was Bernie's first time communing with gray whales and I can tell ya...Bernie is a true whale whisperer...while everyone else was junping from side to side with each whale that popped it's nose up...there was Bernie quietly sitting with his hand over the side of the boat...he never moved but his lips to smile when the whales came up to meet his hand which happened alot...every time I looked over at him, he had his own personal cetacean under his hand.
