Gonzaga Bay

Looking for a 3rd party to go in on a palapa rental at El Rancho. Currently we have a yearly rent on a palapa at El Rancho, two trailers with space for a third. Separate shower room with hot and cold shower, flush toilet, water storage, 12 volt and 110 ac solar power. Two storage rooms and a generator room.

We get down once or twice a year usually late spring and early fall. Daily garbage pick up, water delivered as needed. Close to the store and restaraunt at El Rancho and Alfonsina's.
Unfortunately we aren't using it as much as we used to do to work comitments and our third partner built a big house at Alfonsina's . If interested, U2U me for additional info.

Not exactly sure what you mean. If you are referring to cost? The yearly rental is $2,000.0, split that three ways. Buy in for a third; one year's rent, negotiable.
Hope that answers your question. Anything else I have missed, please let me know.

Woody, thanks for your interest. $2,000.0 buy in for one third interest plus $666.33 share of yearly rental(1/3 of $2,000.0 yearly rental) total: $2,666.33 american dollars. Thereafter (2012) $666.33 which is one third of the yearly rental. Use when ever you want. Not a time share.
Hope that answers your questions if not feel free to ask away.

I have asked James before... it is his abbreviation for Rancho Grande... which is the property just south of Alfonsina's road... The market, Rancho Grande airstrips, beach palapas.

Here is Bahia San Luis Gonzaga (Willard Bay to some), Papa Fernandez' on one side, Alfonsina's on the other... and just past Alfonsina's is Rancho Grande (on the bigger bay of Ensenada de San Francisquito... usually also called 'Gonzaga Bay'):

Thanks David. We have a Mexican restaurant here locally called El Rancho Grande. In my head I constantly transpose the two.

Are you interested in renting it out for a week or so? We are currently at Campo Coloradito and are interested in venturing to Gonzaga this coming Spring.

tbpeth
thanks for your inquiry, never thought about it. It would probably be more hassle then it's worth to arrange cleaning, explain the water, electric system, pass off key. On our next trip down, we have had to postpone two trips because of moving and a health issue, I am considering setting up a deal with the folks up at Rancho Grande to clean it for us just before we go down, I would call on the sat phone. I think that might be doable. If I can work it out, renting it out for a time would be feasable. Stay in touch.

My bad - I should have given you some more info about us before asking about a rental. Our place is 30 m south of SF, totally off the grid. We've got a couple of batteries and solar panels, go to the well to get our water and wipe a wet towel over the furniture to get the dust off when we get there. We're not looking for a "rental" that needs to be cleaned or explained. We've got the know how to use whatever you may have (and what you don't have isn't an issue). Been wanting to make the trip to Gonzaga for a number of years and now with more vacation time and the kids out of the house we've got the opportunity. We could stay at Alfonsinos, but thought something that is similar to what we have at Coloradito would be a good way to see if we are interested in the area at all. Anyways, think about it and if you want to talk to me or my husband shoot me a note and we can go from there. Thanks!

A little off topic - but David, on that map, where is the trailhead that leads up to Mision Santa Maria?

Hi Cindi, it isn't in the satellite image above... further south, it climbs up from the Arroyo Santa Maria just east of the canyon entrance... access from the road to Las Palmitas (a water source used by residents of Punta Final for many years).

There is another mission trail that is in the satellite image above...

Called the Father Serra Cargo Trail... It goes up the big arroyo just north of Papa Fernandez' and was used to help build the San Fernando mission, but does intersect with the EL CAMINO REAL (and road from Santa Ynez) about 3 miles west of Santa Maria. Baja Bucko has traveled it by mule, and even left a geocache along it at a beautiful oasis (photos on geocaching.com).

To find the CAMINO REAL up to Mision Santa Maria from Hwy. 5, south of Gonzaga Bay:

GPS Directions (map datum NAD27 Mexico)

Take Hwy. 5 south 7.4 miles from Rancho Grande, turn west: 29°41.094'/ 114°24.566'

3.2 miles west of Hwy. 5, go straight where most traffic curves left for Las Palmitas: 29°41.278'/ 114°27.639'

0.8 miles from above, park at huge boulder: 29°41.68'/ 114°28.20'

Hike to north bank of Arroyo Santa Maria to: 29°41.733'/ 114°28.175' elev. 609' (ECR-1)

Go northwest and climb out of valley, note ocotillos.

Along left side of side valley: 29°42.374'/ 114°28.566' elev. 741' (ECR-2)

On first padre built switchback up: 29°42.669'/ 114°28.937' elev. 906' (ECR-3)

On a ridge, trail continues northwest: 29°42.671'/ 114°29.425' elev. 1308' (ECR-4)

On the Camino Real: 29°42.748'/ 114°29.482' elev. 1391' (ECR-5)

Crossing ridges and little mesas: 29°43.008'/ 114°29.967' elev. 1477' (ECR-6)

Drop along side of ridge, trail narrow: 29°43.074'/ 114°30.128' elev.1610' (ECR-7)

End of today's hike just beyond this last clear sign of the old trail: 29°43.141'/ 114°30.189' elev. 1702' (ECR-8)

Junction of ECR & bulldozed road: 29°43.126'/ 114°31.753' elev.1413'
(End of bulldozed road, on canyon ridge: 29°43.033'/ 114°31.556' elev. 1,615' )

Mision Santa Maria: 29°43.891'/ 114°32.794' elev.1628'
