Mike Younghusband presentation

Mike Younghusband will be making a slideshow (Powerpoint) presentation - showing photos from his 1000+ mile hike down the Baja California peninsula - on Saturday evening, May 21st. Solo Vino (Sola Vino) will be in attendance as well.

Rumor is that there may be a special presentation made by a representative from the Baja California Dept of Tourism.

Hope you can make it. Please RSVP in this thread so that I know how many people to plan for.

This will take place...

When: 6p-9p, Saturday, May 21st, 2011.

Where:

Best Western Seven Seas
411 Hotel Circle South
San Diego, CA 92108

In the Lord Jim room. Enter through the Cafe and head straight back - past Zack's Bar. No outside food or drink (sorry). There'll be a water station (and Zack might have some drink specials).

Requested donation: $5/each (to cover the room fees from the hotel)

Please plan to be there and welcome Mike back from his five and a half month journey down the peninsula.

I wonder if they know about the first Baja internet gettogether that David K had in San Clemente in 2000, were Lorenzo de Baja and myself got caught with a bottle of Cazadores and it got confiscated :saint:

I remember that well! That was one SHARP-EYED waitress!

Thanks Ferna... I miss Lorenzo de Baja's fun history and Baja trivia exchanges we had on Amigos de Baja! LdB and I had two trips to Baja together exploring sites (they are the 2nd and 3rd trip pages I have photos of on VivaBaja.com).

I know Mike's scheduling some other dates with other groups. One of the people I contacted for this was John Mead of Adventure 16 - as I knew they had the space to do it, and Mike's the right type of person to make a presentation there... as well as it being a private business location that we'd probably have no issue getting the dog (Solo) into (restaurants and hotels are a little tricky with that). Anyway, we just couldn't put something together with John in a short period of time, and will be working on getting Mike connected with them so that he can possibly make a presentation there later on.

When I mentioned Adventure 16 to Mike, he told me he was a customer of theirs, and that the boots he wore all the way down the peninsula (he only used one pair btw), came from A16!

So, I believe there will be other opportunities along the way to see Mike's presentation.

btw... I know how many people I need to RSVP for at least - and along with the other 15 RSVPs already... I'm now thinking there's potential we could hit capacity for the room that night.

Thusly, know this... I may need to LIMIT RSVPs to this event at - or near - 80 people (if there end up being that many people interested). If so, I could only guarantee entry to those that RSVP ahead of the potential limit.

Put me in for 3 please.

If I hear about another presentation around the same time (even if later) , I may change to that one to allow others to go to this one. Bummer on the 80 person limit...
