Scuba Diving in Asuncion a blast!
The last 2 weeks have been quite an adventure with amigos bajagypsies here on a dive holiday with their friends. After a 2 year long process, we
finally got all the permits to take people scuba diving here in the reserve and dive we did!! Mr.Gypsy and his pal TJ are PADI instructors and I am
proud to announce that I finished my last open water dives to get my certification….woooo hoooo! Here we are celebrating after the last dive.
Juan took the kids out to a seamount to do a deep technical dive and they saw some cool stuff down there at 120’.
The gang loved diving on the steamship wreck and pirate cave at San Roque Island and they even did a night dive which attracted a lot of attention…it
was cool to see the glow of their dive lights underwater.
gypsy Alica was pretty skookum in her dry suit
 We all had a blast and got lots of diving in…the weather was pretty darn good for May.
TJ’s wife also finshed up a course and she too attracted a lot of attention getting in and out of her wetsuit at the beach!
We all had a terrific time snorkeling with the sealions at Asuncion Island too.

here in the future.

I'm sure there are lots of pristine dive sites along that coast that SCUBA folks would love to explore. There sure aren't many (any?) dive outfits on
the west coast of central Baja, so once the word gets out I bet you & Juan will be quite busy. Good luck!

oh yeah Cap...there is world class diving here...the kelp beds are spectacular, wrecks, seamounts and shore dives too. We should be getting the
compressor up and running in the next few months we hope.
It was very difficult to get the permits as no one has ever applied for one in this area and we are the first to obtain them but we look forward to
lots of good diving here. It's also something to do in the off season.

we have life vests on board but dont wear them unless there is a danger...it was a calm day, and we only went like 10 minutes out to the island then
anchored...it wasnt a charter but a family outing...you try getting a baby in a lifejacket!!!!

Miquel.........I have worked with Juan bringing down Type IV and III PFD's..along with other safety devices for all his boats.
He would be compliant with the USCG for safety devices... we also have multiple childrens PFD's available.
I understand your post ... but Juan is one of the most respomsible and safe capts I've had the pleasure of fishing with!!
Hope ya make it by this season! Should be an awsome one!

Congratulations, Open Water Diver PADI-certified Shari Bondy Arce.
From one fellow diver to another, well.... I can tell you that you've just changed your life completely and forever getting that certification over
and done.
Having dived Asuncion waters twice and snorkeled with the sealions various other times, let me tell everybody: The waters there are fabulous for new
divers like Shari, a delight for experienced professional divers like myself, and do offer challenges for the techie divers like Todd.
The kelp of the Pacific is totally fun and the sealion interaction is not to be experienced anywhere else in such an intimate fashion.

its a pony bottle for emerg air.
i have one on my buddy commando BC.
very handy if you need one.

Just for curiosity, if that is a battery does anyone know what it powers? Like Mike, I would have thought it was a pony bottle. Other than lights,
which I don't see, I can't imagine what would require a big honker battery like that.
PS that's some heavy tech-diving equipment he is using. If I am seeing that right he is using doubles. Was that part of the course shari?

Mr. gypsy is a tech diver, they were going to 150 feet i believe. It wasn't part of Shari's course just Mr. gypsy and his friend doing what they love
best. Mr. gypsy always dives doubles. What you also can't see is the other tank attached to the other side, and his small pony bottle on the other
side for his dry suit.
As for the battery it is for a halcyon light, it is an Advanced LED array and will provides 600 Lumen output.
