the days of cheap mexican avgas are over

Mexican gov't just raised prices across the board at SEANAM facilities and the private ports had already been charging more. What had been $3.50 avg around has now gone to $6 plus a gallon for 100 LL.
one report BPI has CSL at $7.50 a gal.

we are at $5.50 at KHII, about the same at KDVT.

pilots - what's the price at your base?
and what have you paid in baja lately??

More accurately, "cheapER". Hasn't been cheap in years.

My husband has always said that Pemex gets us for around 20% extra, we quit doing the math, it is just to upsetting.

How is the Pemex in town? I have noticed many more locals shop there, which is usually a good indicator.

Ken - my old panga guide Alex used to tell me that the pemex rips everyone off - in his own words, "even us Mexicans!" and followed it with - "what can you do - nada..."

he just accepted it as a fact of doing biz.
that SUCKS.

happens at mexican airports too but the worst offender is MMSF where they have gauges set to 10% at least short on qty shown.

Marv - i'd be peeED too.

give him a jerry can marked for 6 gals us and fill it - it will take 7-8 everytime...

Allen - $5.35 is pretty good deal these days... but ouch!! SDL is like $6.50 but they rip everyone... too gucci for me.

MMSF is where Carlos Fiesta last filled-up in Mexico before he died in the Newport back bay after crashing from fuel exhaustion. He only put in 20 gallons in Calexico when he cleared customs. He probably thought he had more fuel than he did because he paid for it and had a receipt.

Mexicans probably killed him and his passengers, but it won't show up as a tourist death in Mexico.

well so much for a reasonable price to fly to Asuncion with the new commercial carrier(Aerocommander 500B..7 passenger plane). I called and asked and the price last week was 3,500 pesos round trip from Ensenada to Asuncion on thursdays .....but today they are updating the price to reflect the increase in av fuel prices...darn.

Talk about "Gucci". SUN is $7.67 for 100LL and $7.75 for JetA. That's "Gucci, gucci, goo!"

well as long as auto gas continues to climb commensurately private flying still is a good deal.

i can slog along at 70 mph on the highway getting maybe 20 mpg at $3.75 a gal....
or whisk along at 180 mph straight line getting 13 mpg at $5.25 a gal.
choice is easy.
but if i was a comm'l carrier req'd to make a profit - yikes! the ticket costs would go volcanic.

Shari - word on BPI is that some mexican GA is giving push back, this is serious sticker shock to them.
And Pemex is planning at least one new refinery, 1st in 30 years. they need to produce their own 100 LL - now they import it all from USA.

Capt. Mike- At Brown Field, KSDM, it is $5.59/gal today, but they just ran out and they said the new shipment coming in tomorrow might be lower. No wonder they raised the price if it all comes from USA (in Baja). Took a trip to Mulege a few weeks ago and topped of at Serenedad with autogas which worked just as perfect. The 0-470 (C182L) didn't know the difference.
