I will give you one clue to the identity of this California mission. There were several California missions that occupied more than one site. This
mission is one of those.

Good guess, but not correct.
This is one of the California missions, and not a Baja California mission. Another clue. It was established in the 1780s.

Oh.........California!! How about Carmel--San Bart-something.....that IS a Monterey Cypress growing there(another reason I chose Santo Domingo--had
to be coastal for those to be growing there).

It is located within 10 miles of the coast, but is not very close to the coast as is Carmel.

Since there were only three California missions built in the 1870's, I have pretty good odds for a guess. I don't recognize the photos, but, I know
that La Purisima Concepcion, northeast of Lompoc was moved about four miles away after an 1812 earthquake and heavy rains destroyed the mission.
So that's my guess...

Also correct
The photo shows the remains of the church built at the first site of La Purisima mission, built between 1798 and 1802. These ruins are located in
Lompoc, made famous by W.C. Fields. The Franciscans relocated the mission to a new site following the 1812 earthquake, because the Indians would no
longer live there. The reconstructed buildings at the state park are from the second site.
