SOLD - For Sale: Marvin Patchen’s Mitsubishi 4x4 Fuso

For sale is Baja Adventurer, Marvin Patchen’s Mitsubishi Fuso with Custom Callen Camper. It is a 1990 Mitsubishi 4X4 Fuso FG with only 111,795 miles and includes a 6-cubic-foot refrigerator/freezer, sink with a 12-volt DC water pump (and standby hand pump), stove and oven, flush toilet, hideaway dining table, excellent interior lighting and a 43-watt solar panel to help maintain the batteries. Also included are complete service manuals, spare belts and hoses, a Hy-Lifter jack, tools, two 5-gallon fuel cans, other miscellaneous items including pots, pans and silverware. It has been used so don’t expect perfection, though it has also been well maintained having had both the air conditioning and the refrigerator just serviced and is ready for its next adventure, just get in and go...

Additional pictures can be seen by going to: http://photobucket.com/Fuso and enter password: Fuso4x4
The last picture has the complete vehicle specifications; the asking price is $19,995.

If interested in the vehicle I have two articles from Trailer Life magazine written by Marvin in 1991 and 1994 about the Fuso that can be emailed by request.

Also available either as a package or separately is a six-wheel, four-passenger amphibious vehicle, called a Max IV, along with an enclosed trailer setup for the Fuso. Trailer and the Max IV are pictured in the second to last picture. I also have an Off-Road magazine article written by Marvin about the Max IV, referred to as “La Tortuga”. Price is negotiable.

Please email or call with any additional questions.

Michael, welcome to Nomad... Can you make it so the photos don't require a password to see... Just tried and it says "too many failed attempts to log on"

We spent a weekend at your folk's Canebrake place in '05, and is this the camper with angels inside? http://vivabaja.com/patchen

Hello,

I'm trying to keep albums from getting comingled and it appears the PASSWORD is working, so please enter: Fuso4x4 when asked for the password.

David those were nice pictures of Canebrake and the trailer you are referring to was the guest trailer at their house with my mother’s collection of mandolin playing angels hanging from the ceiling.

Thanks!

WOW...what a cool off-road rig

Whoever ends up with this will be getting quite a deal. I really like the design and think it would ba very cool rig for Baja. Lots of good features and a well planned design!

If I had $20K I'd be all over this!

112K miles and 21 years old? I mean it's nice and everything, but is it worth that much? I would say not to most people, so it's going to be pretty hard to sell.

WELL...

112K on a commercial diesel engine is nothing. It could probably go to 300k without many problems!

AND...Callen Campers are built very well. You see many in use that are 20+ years old, are still in service, and still looking good.

MAYBE...Michael would take less. Most sellers advertise high with a lower price in mind!

The pictures seem to tell the story. Looks like Marvin took really good care of it!

I'm female so I thought it was just a girl observation, Roberto. thanks for the clarification, AmoPescar, about it being a commercial diesel though that still goes over my head... I've had gasoline cars that went to 300k. things (note Venus speak again) in them still break/wear out and 20 year old interiors are dated to say the least.
anyway, a bump for the vehicle, I hope it gets a good home and buyer and seller are happy.

reality\'s never been of much use out here...

Amo, compare that price with used 21 year old rigs. I have both a diesel truck and a Callen Camper, so I know what you mean. Still, that price is way out of range, IMHO.

I'm just think that the seller has unreasonably expectations, and will not be move it at that price. But, maybe he doesn't REALLY want to sell it.

Roberto,
So what do you think would be a more reasonable asking price?

Maybe that might help this guy sell that ol' thing ;)

ROBERTO...

SO...A BUYER CAN MAKE MAKE HIM AN OFFER...there's no rule that says a buyer has to pay full price!

And as I said, my experience is that a seller usually posts a price for more than they'll actually take. I'd love to have it. BUT I would certainly offer him a way lower price and see if he bites. If not...than maybe we'd meet somewhere in the middle.

IMHO...it's a very unique and different vehicle. Sort of a poor man's version of an 'EarthRoamer' http://www.earthroamer.com or a 'UNICAT'
http://www.unicatamericas.com
If I won the lotto, I'd love to have either of them!
